if they keep cousins what are they thinking will be different next year?

I think they could entice season ticket holders with a top 3 pick in this year's draft plus jaylen brown who has shown great progress in a half season.

I don't think anyone can beat that offer unless sac and the bulls swapped butler for cousins.

On top of that, by trading him, their own 2017 pick will likely change from a mid 2nd rounder to a top 5 pick.  They would have two early 2017 picks and Jaylen Brown plus whatever else the Celtics are willing to offer up.

If they're 11 or above, they owe their pick to Chicago, so there's significant incentive to trade and get worse this year.

Philly also has swap rights with them next year, and they stand to get significantly better with Simmons back, a more experienced Embiid, and one or two more high-level prospects in the draft. Thus, they probably get their pick switched next year anyways, so attaining both of the 2017 and 2018 Brooklyn picks should be in their interest to build a nice young core of franchise-level players going forward.

After watching yesterday's Celtics-Sixers game, I'm convinced we NEED someone like PG13 or Cousins to come here.

We aren't beating good teams with good size with our small ball every time. Especially come playoff time when it matters most and we need a key rebound or something in the paint.

Man, you guys should turn on this Kings/Warriors game. Cousins has 7 pts, 2 rebs, 3 asts, and 1 stl in 6 minutes before getting his second foul and sitting down.

It's absolutely obvious that the Warriors have no answer whatsoever for Cousins down low. Pachulia doesn't stand a chance, and both Durant and Green have been burned on switches on him in the post already. So much attention is on him that he's found others every time he's had it and not scored.

Of course, the Kings aren't using him enough, so they're keeping the Warriors in the game, even with five turnovers halfway through the first.

The Warriors may be a super team... but they sure have trouble against teams with size and their lack of bench depth may cost them in the playoffs honestly.

Don't forget, the Spurs and Rockets only within two games of the Warriors for the #1 seed.

TP......both Cavs and Warriors hate teams with guys like Townes, Boogie , now Embiid.   We are trying to do the wrong thing with small ball.

I feel dirty rooting for the Warriors this year, but we got that Boogie Watch to consider!  ;D

I don't know... The Kings seem adamant in giving Cousins the 200M extension (he's their only bright spot too...), AND this draft look SOOO GOOD (Fultz? Ball? Giles? Tatum? Yes please...)

And I've been on this thread from the start supporting "Boogie to Boston", and I still do but now I hesitate a bit these days, also seeing how Smart and Brown are doing (and we may also need to give up one of them to acquire Cousins in a big deal)

It should also be noted that Portland is playing the Pistons tonight, and they're up 8 going into the 4th.

Currently, they're tied with the Kings in the standings (+ 1 win and +1 loss), so a Portland win and a Kings loss will be really good to drop the Kings from the playoffs for the moment. And with more difficult games coming up for the Kings, that distance from the playoffs should further even more.

The hope is that Zizic comes in and does well next season, and we sign Griffin/Ibaka/Noel/Millsap/Bogut (SOME BIG OUT THERE).

They obviously aren't winning a championship this season BUT I'd still like them to acquire Bogut for cheap. He could help us win a few playoff series and PROGRESS. I don't want another first round exit and if we match up with the Bucks... It's possible because they got great size that they use to their advantage and we have Olynyk and Zeller lol...

Sacramento is insane to not just tank and get something done with us. Of course, we already knew they are insane.

Bradley, Zeller, BKN '16, BKN '17 for Cousins, Collison

We're done rebuilding, Cousins is our new best player, Bradley doesn't need to be paid in 2 years, and we have max cap room this summer. Bradley's role goes to Smart, Brown and Rozier, with Collison as veteran guard insurance.

Sacramento ends up with two top-5 picks this year, likely another 2 next year, plus the Memphis pick, and can sell Bradley + Gay to a contender if they want, or just let them hold down the fort and rack up the losses.

We'd be rolling out:

Thomas / Collison
Smart / Rozier / Green
Crowder / Brown
Horford / Johnson / Jerebko
Cousins / KO

That's taking a 50-win team and adding a new #1 player. Next year we bring over the euros if we want a rookie. Our best player is a mismatch for both CLE and GS and we have a solid 3-5 year window to contend if we retain our guys and/or add another star in the offseason.

No they aren't.  Their best chance for franchise success is to convince Boogie to stay another 6 years.  They couldn't even get draft picks willing to go to SAC to work out last draft -- tanking is the wrong strategy right now.  They need to make their organization less of an embarrassment.

The Blazers' D is absolutely terrible. Their perimeter defense has to be one of the worst in the league.

I'm really pulling for them so that they can put some distance between Sacramento and themselves in the playoff race, but it's hard to imagine that this was the same team as last year.

On a side note, it's great that the Pistons are playing better with Jackson starting to get back into a rhythm, because they play Sacramento next on Tuesday.

Uggh the Blazers suck. Perfect opportunity to put separation between them and the Kings, and they blow it.

Meanwhile, the Lakers won, and are only a couple games out of 8th.  I'm going to chuckle when the pick the Sixers get from them this year is 15th.

The Lakers are also a couple games out from having the 4th worst record in the league and last in the West.  Whole lot of ugly out West.
