Zeller is very safe. At least until DA can find a trade to dump that expiring contract. I think someone comes around and gives a 2 for hunter or young which would help the logjam. I'd be stunned at this point if they cut Jackson. He's really done everything that was asked.

Zeller wasn't brought here to dump the expiring contract. If that was the case, he wouldn't be signed in the first place.

He's here to match up for higher salary players. We aren't trying to get rid of him for the sake of opening roster space.

Not to mention the fact that if you need an emergency big for a few starts then he is more than serviceable.

Not like we are talking Fab Melo or Mickey Moore here.

Someone will need a backup big later in the season and Danny will trade him for more than decent value or we keep him around as an insurance big on the bench.

Young or Hunter.  I prefer young by a slight amount. To keep that is.

Just to note RJ was a guy who was a fan favorite when he was drafted and considered our best pick that draft on this board.  Terry Rozier was panned as a pick that year.  James young has been panned ever since he got in the league. 

I never felt that way but weird we are talking one or the other at this point.  I think the Celtics thought Young would be a better defender when he was drafted.

I think Rj is ok and has some potential but so does young.  I think it's been pretty close this preseason for different reasons.  I'd keep Young because of his scoring and shooting by a slight margain right now.

Both guys still have decent potential in my mind. Rj is actually pretty versatile but both are in ways.  I think Young is a more talented scorer though.

I don't think it's the end all be all but would be nice to hang onto both in some way.  If one gets cut I choose to keep Young right now.

Both have been pretty equal and it's really a coin flip. Young has had some defensive breakdowns but has made more plays on the defensive end this preseason and has looked more aggressive offensively. Rj has looked more solid on defense and has made plays as well and has done a good job using his iq to score.

young was drafted at the same spot Rozier was.  Rj was a late 1st round pick. Not that it matters.  It's who can play but young was drafted because of his youth and upside.  Rj for his shooting.  Both have been pretty equal so far.  Rj is probably the more solid bet but Young is still young.  Both have decent upside as a roleplayer in this league.  It's kind of silly to keep both although I think both can play potentially.

Rj winning in this poll doesn't mean much to me though because Rj has been a favorite on this board since he was drafted.  Young has been a whipping boy. Rj was that even over Rozier and this board is biased that way.

Neither guy is going to play a lot behind guys like Rozier, Smart, Crowder, Green, Brown.  They are additional depth.  Both provide additional scoring in ways and I think Young does that better. Rj is probably more solid in other facets.

Reminds me of Sully though where he was basically untouchable by some fans for the longest time.  Rj is kind of that with fans imo when if you really look at it he really isn't better than Young at this point.  I don't think either guy is the end all be all.  Young could play overseas and develop and be like Gerald Green.  He might have a  better chance at clearing etc... Who knows right now.

Jackson is an additional pg so he has the inside track there although Rj can do some of that.

I'd go by their projected ceiling and Young seems to have a highter ceiling on the two. He's a better rebounding and seems to have a better understanding of the defense now. I hate to cut either of them, tbh and I'd rather dump Zeller.

Young has been handling the ball more this preseason as well.  I think that was asked of most of our guys.  We have plenty of pg's but having wings that will handle and move the ball is what we want.  Both Young and Rj can do this.  I like young's upside slightly better too...  both are ok....  Rj is going to be a guy who relies on his iq and making solid plays.  Young has more talent imo but has to get there and do the same. He had some really good moments this preseason. But his ups and downs are more amplified.

After last nights game I'm thinking what guy has better potential / age, makes good decisions, plays within team game, good defender both one on one and team defense, rebounds or boxes out and looks to pass.

You know who is weakest in those areas?  Gerald Green

I don't think he'll be the one cut but he should be on the bubble.  Last night, rj, young, mickey all looked good.  (Rookie pg as well)
I guess one thing that will come into factor is how easily can a cut be replaced?

Green is here as a veteran shooter to supplant Brown as he develops.  He's experienced.  I like the green signing but if we are going to hand Brown the reigns sooner than later Green becomes expendable.  He will sit on the bench though.  I agree it's not an absolutely necessary signing though with Hunter and Young coming.  I don't think either of them are that good though either where cutting one is the end of the world.

Green is 30 years old. Looks like he's 20 and will probably be good for another 10 years at least.  Right now we hope Young or Hunter can be what Green is.

Agree on gerald, at signing i kind of felt like he'd be an eddie house sort.  Some short comings but could win us some games.  I know he has better offensive talent than he's shown in preseason but in watching him off the ball and his decision making I'm wondering if he is break glass in case of emergency sort of signing.

I don't.  I think it is very hard to make a trade to reduce roster size 5 days before the deadline.  All teams are trying to reduce roster size.

Green may still be hurt, so safe to say, not 100%, I think CBS will factor this into his decision.   He is proven at the NBA level the others are not.

guess we can all watch last preseason game and then reevaluate

i'd say whichever guy young/rj gets cut will be picked up by another team, heck the nets would probably make them instant rotation players
