Solid performance by RJ against the Knicks 3rd stringers, I doubt he will get cut now after considering that Stevens probably trusts him more (playoffs minutes last year), and is a more engaged and complete player than Young.

However both Young and RJ foul at an alarming rate, because their defense just isn't good. RJ needs to get quicker footspeed to guard SG's and the PnR, and add more strength to guard SF's.  He had 4 fouls in 9mins against the Nets a few days ago. Since we have Brown these guys won't matter much for now anyway.

Yep. RJ lateral movement is all gangly fighting arms.

I think it could be Gerald Green getting cut. If we are going to stay young and develop our players Green is the odd man out.  Both RJ and Young can be Green or more in the future possibly even this year.

Zeller would be my pick after last night's game but it is not going to happen.  I too think RJ is safe.  Mickey stunk last night.   Young has drifted off again.  Jackson and Bentil, I think will be D league bound.  If we got a decent signing any one of these could be gone.   I don't think it will be Green.

Agree, neither Zeller nor Green are getting cut.

It still comes back to Young vs. Hunter, but I don't think Ainge will let either one go for nothing.  The best answer is a trade.  One of those guys for a 2nd rounder.

Yeah, no way on Green. A playoff team slated to be one of the top 3 teams in the east signed one free agent this off-season; Green had choices and he chose us. He looked fantastic a couple of games ago. He adds shooting, the ability to get his shot off, and killer athleticism. With his size, he even may get a few minutes here and there at PF.

I agree with not really wanting to keep Zeller, but he is here to stay. We literally just signed him to that surprising contract; there is no chance we just cut him now. Danny and Brad know what he is.

Mickey, however, could be on his way out. With Horford, Amir, KO, JJ, Zeller, and even GG/Crowder/Jaylen (these three not as much) on the roster, why is Mickey guaranteed a roster spot? I agree that it's a shame to cut your one young big, but RJ and Young have at least shown something enticing to keep them around. Mickey really needs to step it up or he could be the odd man out.

Thing is, I can't see Ainge cutting Mickey either.  He is on a rookie contract and he's a big.  As long as Zeller continues to suck and Kelly is out, Mickey seems safe to me.

The "roster reduction" will be in the crowded backcourt, either a straight cut or more likely a trade, IMO.

Agree. Also considering we have Yabu and Zizic most likely next year, where would Mickey fit in? I;m not seeing a need he fills right now, considering he doesn't spread the floor to play the 4 spot, and isn't a big body to rebound well at the 5.

Zeller is nothing anymore.  He is David Lee and Bass all wrapped up in one.

Bad everything.

After last nite i think Danny  is salivating while watching to see who the Knicks  will cut. I would take Hernangomez, Kuz or Holiday over Young, Bentil, Jackson or Green. Hope the knicks cut one of them, but they all can shoot so maybe not.

Zeller is very safe. At least until DA can find a trade to dump that expiring contract. I think someone comes around and gives a 2 for hunter or young which would help the logjam. I'd be stunned at this point if they cut Jackson. He's really done everything that was asked.

2-for-1's this time of year are very hard since all teams are trying to cut down to the max roster count.  I think it will be for a future draft pick and maybe a warm body that we cut immediately.

Zeller wasn't brought here to dump the expiring contract. If that was the case, he wouldn't be signed in the first place.

He's here to match up for higher salary players. We aren't trying to get rid of him for the sake of opening roster space.

not sure where this belongs. i just saw it on SoSH. it made me laugh.

Kevin McHale on Danny Ainge:

“It’s funny because Danny is going about it the right way, he’s not panicking. He’s not going to make a deal just to do something,” McHale said. “He’s got a lot of assets. Believe me, that’s just the opposite [of him]. Danny is one of the most impulsive people I know and I’m just shocked he doesn’t make a trade every week. He’s really a disciplined general manager, which is funny because he’s a very undisciplined person. He’s one of my best friends."

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
