Was listening to the Zach Lowe/Brian WIndhorst podcast and they discuss Embiid quite a bit.  They compare him to a baby giraffe.  Simply breathtaking to behold, but clearly has no idea what he's doing yet.  They suggest that he's probably at like 10% of what he'll eventually become.  SO yeah, obviously it remains to be seen if Embiid will reach his full potential.  But a dude who is able to torch Steven Adams, Dwight Howard and bully big men like Vucevic within his first 3 games... he's already an impact player even if he doesn't reach his sky high ceiling.

If you want to compare him to a breathtaking young big man who hasn't yet reached his ceiling, compare him to Karl Towns.   Bringing up Gerald Green is asinine.

You can't be serious.

Show me where I compared Embiid to Gerald.

And, surprise, surprise. Copy paste the forum link into your browser, and it takes you to one of his animated gifs where he accuses everyone in the thread of calling Embiid a bust.

I find it very frustrating that that sort of posting is allowed on such a quality board.
I'm mostly fine with LarBrd's posts on here. And some of his pseudo-trolling/pseudo-trying-to-prove-a-point posts are ok, but only to a certain extent.

Stuff like this, it's just overboard. It's, as you said, trolling. I perfectly understood exactly what you meant, and what you asked of LarBrd. He's just trying now to muddle up the whole thread.

LarBrd, do you have a lot of free time on your hands? You're almost always on here. Almost always writing these elaborate and long comments that often times don't even address the previous comment or the topic of the thread. You make all these gifs and videos, you had your Noel twitter picture thing earlier this summer. How do you have the time to do all this man?

It seems like you're stewing. No reason to say LarBrd has a lot of times on his hands. I'm sure he has a great life. And he isn't always on here actually. He's been a member for a while and that is the reason for his high post numbers. I'm sure you average more posts a day then him.

Anyways. Back to Embiid. Looks like we wanted to trade up for him. But it was not a good enough offer for them

That's partially why I'm bitter.  Instead we got stuck with Marcus Smart who is coming off a historically bad shooting season and was 1-6 from three in his first game.  Can't stay too mad at Smart, though... he came outta nowhere to hit a big shot late against Chicago last night.

I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

Embiid looks good. Still can't say with certainty that he will remain healthy. That's always been the question, because there is no doubt he is a future HOF.

2nd, why are we ignoring the fact that Lbrrd who loves the sixers, have clearly diminished the values of their other centers? According to Lbbrd, wasn't Noel supposed to be a future DOP of the year? He's in his 4th year now and have to say he hasn't been great. So I always take his optimisim with a grain of salt when it comes to Philly.
That's adorable that you think I'm powerful enough to diminish the trade value of a basketball player.

And yes, Noel has the defensive potential to some day DPOY.   He looks like he'll be the odd man out in Philly, though with Embiid and Okafor looking like future stars.   It'll be interesting to see what they get for Noel in trade... assuming I haven't diminished his trade value too much.

Also, I don't love the Sixers.  I just think it's an interesting team and most people here don't understand what they've accomplished.

Make jokes all you want because at the end of the day you were wrong about Noel's trade value.

Woah... did Noel get traded?

And yes you do love the sixers. If Jaylen Brown was on the Sixers, you would be praising him as the second coming of Michael Jordan.

That's clearly not true.  Dario Saric is on the 76ers, is arguably better than Jaylen, and I haven't compared him to Michael Jordan once.

I mean he is right now...You're the one who compared Brown to Butler, now you're backing away from it? Consistent much?

Also, you're not being objective about Noel's trade value. Why is he on the team if his value is so great?

Second point:  Gotta wait and see what Philly gets for Noel before commenting with certainties about his trade value.   We're just speculating at this point.   The price rival teams tell media they are willing to pay for Noel is different than the price Philly was willing to take, I guess.   Interestingly enough, there were draft day rumors that Philly and Boston were discussing trading Noel + filler for the #3 pick, which is honestly much more than I would expect Noel to be worth.

Noel's trade value

http://www.libertyballers.com/2016/6/16/11957196/nba-trade-rumors-jahlil-okafor-top-five-pick-nerlens-noel

Okafor Evaluation/Noel

"On Monday, Turner Sports analyst David Aldridge wrote about the various first-round draft picks from 2013 who were in line for contract extensions. Regarding Noel, Aldridge wrote the Sixers weren't going to re-sign him before Monday's deadline and that Philadelphia is continuing to make him available for possible trades.

Ideally, the Sixers could move Okafor, who is basically a younger version of Greg Monroe. Although Okafor is a great scorer in the post, his defense is nonexistent. In today's NBA, a big man who can't protect the rim is a liability.

In September, Noel didn't outright demand a trade, but he said the Sixers needed to move somebody, per the Associated Press' Chuck Gormley:"

Because contrary to common perception, I don't hate all Celtic players.   I still think there's a chance Marcus makes a leap this season.  I hope so, at least.  Marcus is a high intangibles guy.  He brings a lot off the bench.  His shooting is atrocious, but hopefully something clicks and he starts making consistent shots.

Look, I know you love Jaylen Brown, that's why I was surprised by the Saric slight. This is the problem. You say Saric is better, but he is older so I don't understand why you would even bring it up? I'm guessing you were messing with me.

Second, that was an old report based on two years ago lol. I just posted a few new ones above. Enjoy them. I would reccomend having some hot chocolate while reading through.

I don't think I've ever really definitively guessed what Noel or Okafor is worth.  My stance has been that both were highly logical picks at the time, because both would likely be flipped for positions of need when the time came to build out a roster.  Would Philly have been in a better position right now had they taken Ben McLemore instead of Noel?  Probably not.   I still would guess they will get something for Noel.  WHo knows what that'll be.   Clearly some folks have written about how he's not worth much.  That's likely why Philly hasn't traded him... because giving him away for nothing serves no purpose.   My guess is he'll be traded closer to the deadline for something that helps Philly.

Okafor's perceived trade value is low right now for a number of reasons.  Once again, there's no sense in trading him unless they are getting something worthwhile.  Kid still has star potential.  They are better off hanging onto him than giving him away.  Obviously, Porzingis greatly exceeded expectations, but Phil Jackson himself would have taken Okafor over Porzingis had he been drafting 3rd.   What we're really asking at this point is if Okafor has less trade value than Mudiay.  Maybe he does.  Maybe he doesn't.  We might never find out, because Philly might end up keeping him.

How is this thread not locked? It is just two guys arguing for 3 pages and insulting each other and talking about how many posts a day they make. This hasn't been about Embiid for pages. Im all for good spirited debate and have had many myself including with LB, but this is ridiculous.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. I never said anything about his life.

All im saying is, for a guy who loves to poke fun and stuff like that, he certainly puts a great deal of effort into it.

and, regarding your last sentence:

LarBrd: 18971 (5.277 per day)
Me: 3519 (3.613 per day)

Then it was a misunderstanding on my part. People have attacked Larbrrd before and have gotten personal. I thought you were doing the same. Didn't realize you were joking.

And that's a pretty good chunk a day. So everyone on this board must spend a lot of energy posting.

all good man.

I'm waiting for my next class to start, and i just had midterms, so really got nothing else to do right now. figured i'd post here.

and my post numbers are a little inflated because of how often i posted on here in the summer. during the school year, i dont post as much. i'm just bored right now.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about
