Is this kid really someone I need to pay attention to?  Is it a classic late-round future d-leaguer that people overreact to?

How about you find out for yourself?

He runs the floor wonderfully. I just wish he could shoot from mid range.

Maybe he can! He hasn't shown it in the games, but his FT stroke looks very good. Perhaps it's not in the game plan of the team.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I quite like this comparison.

Also, I have been and remain enthusiastic about Zizic.

P.S. Does anyone else keep wanting to call Zizic, Zizek?
P.P.S.  Is anyone else here an academic?

On the videos the announcer kept pronouncing the name as "zizich". I hope that helps.

With a serious nasty streak which Zeller doesn't have to that degree. Mentally he reminds me a bit of Tyler Hansbrough at UNC - playing with attitude and not shy about contact. Physically of course he's bigger than Hansbrough - two inches taller and a 4 inch longer wingspan to boot so here's to hoping his pro career takes a better path than Hansbrough (who was a lottery pick).
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

TPs for the updates that are both entertaining and hopeful.

Man, does Zizic have a motor and can he run the floor, looking to run all the time, instinctually!!

A small, seemingly innocuous play that is a subtle example of this is around the 16 sec mark where Zizic blocks a shot, and the instant that he sees that the ball is secured by a teammate, he simultaneously turns and is going down court.

Some little things I like and don't like about Zizic that I picked up on from just the highlights.

I like the fact that he doesn't go straight up with the ball inside.  He is always either moving towards the basket or at an angle which creates space to get the ball off or fouls if you are going into the defender.  This is what Olynyk struggles with so much inside and why he can't finish around the basket and Zeller can.  Zeller is quick but he is also always leaning and going to the other side of the rim.

What I don't like, is that he uses his right hand only, even when on the left side of the basket.  Bradley got a shot blocked against Indiana for this reason.  Instead of laying the ball up with his left hand on the left side of the basket and getting himself an extra two or three feet of distance from the defender, he put the ball up with his right hand right in the defenders face.  That is basic stuff you learn in middle school.  Zizic gets away with it in Latvia or wherever he is but he won't get away with it in the NBA.

what's his free throw shooting percentage for the year, and for his career? Has a sweet stroke.  That's a good sign he can develop a good shooting touch from outside.
