Marcus needs to handle the ball more than Rozier in the second unit. He doesn't have the decision-making for a point guard.

Rosier seems to excel when he feels its his team. He's a volume scorer and Im not certain he fits this team. He's an excellent trade chip until he can be consistent with rotation players.

Exactly. He's best when he's the main guy out there and can worry about creating for himself. But he's not very good at involving others.

Very encouraging shooting percentages from Rozier, Smart and Brown the first two games (aside from Smart's 0-6 from three).   Great to see these guys play well against better competition.   Great game all around.

Also, for the record, those of you who felt it was a good idea to trade the 2015 #16 pick for Nik Stauskas or Anthony Bennett, Rozier seems to be proving you wrong.

the Rozier/Smart/Brown 2nd unit is look good and starting to look consistent. Hope they can continue to do this. Brown is still wowing me. Smart looks like he can also start relying on that mid range game vs his 3 pt game. I like him slashing and taking that mid range today. Very encouraging to see from Smart

Jaylen looks like the real thing, Smart looks like he's finding ways to score besides the 3, Rozier is getting better and better, Young hasn't turned the corner yet, but now he looks like he has the directions.

Mickey and RJ look like back to the D-League. Mickey looks lost and kind of uninterested, RJ...can he really shoot?

First unit looks better than I expected, Bradley, and Crowder are getting better, they're really maturing.

Jaylen is special.  he is a superstar in the making. he does everything. I'm not exagerrating either. He is going to be kobe level.

I think he is very similar in his offense.     Not accident .....I believe Brown claims Kobe was a childhood hero. ..

If he keeps improving ,  a,Brown jersey might hang beside my Smart jersey ..... ;D

KO or Amire should help anchor these guys some.

I d like to see Noel in with Smart , Brown and Rozier .

I agree mix and matching centers and power forwards can do some good for these 3, especially Jaylen who LOVES to drive, a good screen and help him get an explosive drive to the rim. Smart himself puts some good picks as well

I wonder if Rozier's rise will have any impact on the trade availability of Marcus Smart.

No, Rozier hasn't done anything outside of scoring well against 3rd stringers. Smart ran the offense for the 2nd unit when that was supposed to be Terrys job. Rosier is turning into a ball handling Bradley with less defense.

I just can't believe how brutal some of the people on this forum are, really!

Rozier has a total of 410 minutes of NBA experience and is playing what is arguably the hardest position in the game to learn.

He's already earned the respect of the coaches and of some of the more experienced guys on the team - I think he deserves to be cut some slack!

I don't know what is going on with Mickey. I watched him a lot last year in Maine and he had a very instinctive understanding of the game.

Now he seems tentative, like he's afraid of making mistakes. There was a play in the Sixers game where he was in the paint on defense, and Zeller gave up an offensive board to a Sixer. Mickey was nearby and rushed in for a double team, then seemed to noticeably question himself, and withdrew to cover his man near the 3pt line. Zeller gave up a foul and put the ball handler on the line.

IMO Mickey should have trusted his initial instinct to double-team, but he froze.

I saw none of that indecision at all in Maine. Compared to James Young, he had far better court vision and decisiveness all year long.

I think his problems are mental and can be fixed. He needs time. There is hope for him yet.

for what it's worth, Stevens went out of his way to complement Mickey's performance the other night. I'm not sure what he's seeing, but Stevens seems to think Mickey is doing well.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

I think you're taking me wrong. I've really come around to like Rozier, but I just don't think he's an actual point guard. I think Smart needs to handle the ball more often, and Rozier can be the secondary ball-handler that primarily gets his own offense and occasionally offense for others.

I think he could be a good off-the-ball player for us in the second unit, too, because his shot is actually lightyears ahead of where it was advertised to be. As long as Rozier doesn't get too ball-dominant and focused on creating for himself, I really like the backcourt of him and Smart, though Rozier has to pick up his D. He was burned quite a bit today on gambles and being out of position.
