Quote
Thomas and his wife, Kayla, were leaving back-to-school night for parents at Cambridge Montessori School, where their son Jaiden attends pre-K. Thomas saw an adult softball game taking place and told Kayla he wanted to swing a bat there. She told him that was not a good idea. Then he saw Robbie shooting baskets by himself.

“He was the only kid there,” Thomas said. “So I’m like, ‘I’m just going to go get some shots up with him.’ When I walked over, he rebounded his own shot and turned around and I’m like, ‘Can I get a couple shots?’ And he stopped. He didn’t even say a word, like his eyes were so big. He just stopped and froze and I’m like, ‘Pass me the ball.’ ”

like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner

A boy takes care of his own needs, a man takes care of those around him.

Isaiah Thomas is a very mature player, this is the kind of thing you get when you bring in guys who fit the culture. We're lucky to have him.

It's great that he loves being a Celtics star so much. Horford is going to love it here, too.

A tommy point for IT and everyone in the thread. Love u guys and Gals.

You know I always knew in my heart Thomas would be a great Celtics all the way back to the Rondo days.

He was the only player that made sense that we could deal him for, Thomas, McLemore and a first I thought was fair at the time.

That didn't happen but we got him anyway, and Rondo in now in Sacramento, go figure.

Really nice to see this. The dream come true for every kid who's just shooting around by himself - that an nba superstar will just walk up and join you! Haha.

IT seems like such a genuine nice guy. So easy to root for. Reminds me of pierce. So happy to have him on our team. 😄👍

IT is an extremely likable guy and story.  So happy to have him.  I feel like with his height and all he just has such an appreciation for his position.

Thomas is extremely likable.  He seemed super friendly and personable at the autograph signing he did out here near Seattle a couple months ago.

I still think he should be even more popular nationally than he is.  I blame it on his shared name.  Dude needs a killer nickname.

Someone started a thread recently predicting that this would be Isaiah's break out year.  I don't think it's likely he improves much on last year's fantastic performance on the court, but I do think that if he matches that level of play, his status among fans and the media could skyrocket.

It'll be interesting to see how he does in fan voting for the All Star game.  I can't wait for the season.

Loved Pierce (obviously), but let's not pretend he didn't have his issues before KG and Ray showed up. IT just has that magnetic personality that everybody loves. He is a great face for our franchise.

I don't know - I think his height will always limit his perception (no matter how unfair that is). He put up over 20ppg and 6apg with Sac (on fairly efficient shooting) and went on to sign a contract averaging less than $7M/yr over four years to be a teams back-up guard. He deserves more credit than he has received. I am glad he was an all-star last year, but he was ripped off for SMOTY the year before.

Imagine being 14 years old, shooting baskets by yourself, and an NBA player walks up to you out of nowhere and asks you to shoot around? Isaiah Thomas does the stuff young players promise themselves they will do if they ever grow to go pro.
