With Sully out of the picture it looks like Kelly Olynyk might have a real opportunity to earn  starter minutes here next to Horford.  I've been anxious to see what he could do with steady minutes and a larger offensive role.  His per-36 numbers have been solid every year.  Last year, he put up per-36 stats of 17.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals with 46%/41%/75% shooting.  He might actually be our best shooter.  Do you think Kelly will finally get his chance or do you expect that Amir and Horford will start together?

Amir and Horford as the main Duo, but as others have mentioned Kelly will surely get his chance to play with Horford and Amir, and Jonas to give the stats geeks a large enough sample to calculate.

Personally I can't see Kelly finally breaking through this year. He has some talent and some unique qualities. But can't seem to improve on his weaknesses.

His lacks body strength, quite a lot of it actually. Kelly should just hit the gym and build muscle all summer. Not just this year, but the prior years as well. I'm not saying he didn't do this because I wasn't there but if he did, it didn't seem to work.

And now, with his shoulder injury, building muscle mass is probably even harder, so I don't expect sudden improvements in that regard. So I think Kelly will just be Kelly.

Making some threes, hesitating on others. Traveling a couple of times with those pump fakes, but getting to the rim some times as well. Over passing a little, but making some great plays for others as well.

Just KO being KO. A nice complementary player who is great at times and awful at other times. Just play him when he has it going and limit his minutes when he is bad.

Well he already should have been starting over sully . Little late. I don't think Stevens sees that much in Kelly. I do,but only time will tell.

Hopefully, he kills the boy and becomes the man as a variation of GoT.   I hope he plays with more aggression on both ends, if he does not, then nope, it will not be his year.

And if he doesn't improve (tough with the shoulder surgery) not only will this not be HIS year, it could be his last year with the C's.

It will be very difficult to sign a max 7 to 9 year FA player next summer with Kelly's 7.7 mil cap hold on the books.

I believe Kelly is what he is. He'll play 24 mpg or so and put up 10 + 5 with good advanced stats. Some games he will look like a great offensive weapon, other games indecisive and largely invisible on the court.

I like many others had high hopes for KO but it seems unlikely he will reach those. Shoulder surgery clearly wont help but more to the point his lack of aggression prevents him from achieving  his skill level.

He looks stronger.

KO is on the right path.  He gets it now and can make open 3s without much fuss

He just has to reach the next level conditioning wise

kelly is, outside of dirk  the best 7 foot three point shooter
last year i was concerned kelly put so much time into his canada team
it helped his confidence but thought it would make for a very long year
-turner was a reclamation project ,sully had issues but kelly was a draftee, ainge went after-
would you rather have gordon hayward or kelly

Since Kelly was on the recruiting trips for Durant and Horford, I have to imagine the Celtics would like to keep him around.

But now that I think about it a little more, did the Celtics just bring every rotation player under contract?

They brought Crowder, Smart, Thomas, and Olynyk to the meetings.

Bradley says he declined and had prior commitments.

Sullinger, Turner. and Zeller were free agents.

Johnson and Jerebko had team options that might not be picked up.

So maybe they just brought everybody under contract who actually played meaningful minutes?

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I expect he will be traded in package for Noel.

Kind of agree here. He's very "Jeff Greenish" in regards to production at a consistency stand point.

I still like what he brings to the table though. A 10 and 5 guy in 22-24 minutes seems like a pretty reasonable guess with room to exceed expectations. Some games we'll see him drop 20 others we'll see him disappear. Good thing is his 3 point percentage was high. I expect him to shoot above 38% from there with something like 41% not being out of his reach which would be a fantastic addition to the bench.

YEah he probably doesnt see much one of the best three point shooting bigs in the league that perfectly fits his system.

I think he's maybe kind of "Jeff Greenish" in terms of his willingness to assert his own offense.

He's very UN-Greenish in most other respects, though.  The thing that made Jeff Green so infuriating was not simply that he didn't always assert himself offensively; it was that when he wasn't asserting himself offensively, he was basically useless.

Kelly, even when he isn't scoring, is an extremely valuable floor spacing presence, a solid positional defender, a good passer, and an adequate rebounder.  It's usually useful to have him out on the floor.
