his injured should hopefully is what hampered his summer league-with everyone watching rozier, jaylen, yabusele and nader
mickey had a under performing 2nd season-
even with scoring 18 points and rebounding, mickey just didn't have his pop
he missed training and his shoulder must of influenced his shot blocking
a lot of his draft class portis ,stanley, myles turner have had good seasons
what have coaches seen in practice, is it his shooting, strength, size that has not gained brads trust-he ate up d league but got only garbage time
last year every game was important, as we tried to gain advantage and the importance showed as we  had that 3 team tie-
during the season there was the free mickey campaign
can somebody take the time to dissect what is holding mickey back or is he just a tweener with one nba positive shot blocking-

No one that is good enough gets lost in the shuffle.  If he is lost in the shuffle that should tell you all you need to know.

Looks like he isn't taking it hard enough. He has to dominate in practice and when in the game be very active. Then he can take minutes away from the older players. He should be pushing AJ and KO for some of their PF minutes if he has enough skill. Not like either of those two are great PFs to begin with.

lot's of rookies get playing time, but Mickey was a 2nd round pick for a reason.  It is also rare for 2nd round picks to last in the league for a reason.  If Mickey is good enough he will play, if he isn't he won't.  That really is what it boils down to.

i think mickey has a lot of physical talent, but doesnt yet know how to translate into basketball skills. nor do i think he has mastered the intellectual part of the game. (watch him try to play team defense as an example.)

but the talent is there. i think he and one to two other celtics are on the team for their future contributions, not immediate ones. mickey needs a lot of practice and coaching, which he will get.

i view him as an investment in the future.good!  ;D

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

If he proves himself in training camp that he is ready for playing time maybe you'll see a small trade with JJ traded somewhere, and Mickey would take his minutes.

He is a good character guy and cheap practice body.   Guy will need to add pounds on his frame.  He reminds me of a poor mans Dwight Powell.  It will take him some years to even get there.   But I have a feeling he won't sniff much more than 8 minutes a game this year.

Off of training camp?  No way.  Jerebko has played good playoff minutes for this team and Mickey could hardly do anything in summer league this year.

you've just provided the dissection that you asked for.

if he shows he's talented enough for minutes, he'll get them.

I think a lot of guys with talent never get a real chance in the NBA. Probably not many guys with all-star talent, but a guy like Mickey that I think has Brandon Bass-level talent might not get a chance to show it in the wrong situation.

Very true, however Jerebko is only signed through this year, and you might be able to sell high on him as he is pushing 30.  If we are lucky that Mickey somehow reaches his potential we'll have him under cheap control for a while.

but guys like that almost always get a second chance.

And don't get me wrong, I like Mickey and think he could actually contribute some this year, but if he doesn't it is because he isn't good enough.
