I know it's a minority opinion on this board, but I still would REALLY love to have Noel on the team. Assuming a trade would be something like Rozier, Young, and a pick, we might legit have a historic defense with a lineup of:

PG: IT, Smart
SG: Bradley, Green
SF: Crowder, Brown
PF: Horford, Amir, JJ
C: Noel, KO, Mickey
Are the 76ers in the business of giving away their players now?

yeah, historic with smart at point, not as a starter, but as a defensive lineup that would be great

I think it means he likes his home town, nothing more.   I would love to be wrong though.

Yeah, maybe he was watching the Sox or something.

Oh wait, that couldn't have been it. The Sox completely suck.

Maybe smart and a 1st round celts and/ or Memphis pick and a lesser player like young or Hunter does it? I never see any Noel rumors outside of Boston and it surprises me. So maybe an offer like this is the best they could do?? It would surprise me but I feel I haven't seen Noel as much as others here.

Two mid-first round picks and another first?  Everyone is down on Young but Noel isn't going to bring back much more than that.

Good points made on how Noel has the quickness to get out on the perimeter in favor of Horford who does a nice job himself as of lately anyways. I'd love to have Kelly off the bench paired with either of these good defensive players. I think it would be a nice big man rotation.

I hope we don't give away smart for him, if we could create a package around rozier and some picks i would be happy. I really want to see him in green, our defense would be terrific!  :o

I'd like Noah here, but I don't see Danny giving the Sixers what they want for him. Hopefully he wants to play for the C's bad enough that he is willing to take the qualifying offer and leave the year after.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Why don't we wait a year and sign him as a free agent. That way he can really show his love for Boston.

This proposal incudes an NBA bust, a SL star, and a pick (not the pick, if you catch my drift). In terms of actual NBA talent going to the 76ers, it is as close to zero as you can get. In terms of potential talent from picks, guys like Jiri Welsch and Mozgov fetched more.

The case in point is that if I were the 76ers and that's really all Noel could fetch, I'd be happy to keep him. They don't have to trade him.

I (and many others) have said this before, but the main issue with Noel is that this is the 3rd year of his rookie deal. He has two more years left, this year and next. After that he'll be a restricted free agent.

The question then becomes: Do you think Noel might be worth 25% of the salary cap when his rookie deal is through? Because that would be the max for a player of his experience, and it might be what you'd need to spend to retain him, or risk losing him for nothing.

Given all this, I wouldn't give up much for him, especially because you just signed a guy who's a prototypical new-age center (Horford).

I love Nerlens, but my problem is that I view Al as a center.

I don't, at least not at this point in his career.

* Horford is 6'10" / 250 pounds with a 7'0" wingspan.  Pretty much prototypical size for an NBA Power Forward.

* The majority of Horford's offence these days is perimeter oriented.   Just over 56% of all Horford's field goal attempts last year came from outside 10 feet, with 24% of those 56% being three point shots.  His free throw rate (12.3%) was easily the lowest of his career, and significantly lower then his 22% career average.  His offensive play style this past season was pretty much prototypical for an NBA stretch four.

* The average NBA center has a rebound rate of around 15%, which is the same as what Horford has averaged for his career.  Last season Horford's rebound rate was 12.4% which is not only the lowest of his career, it was also slightly lower then what Jonas Jerebko averaged for us (13%).  His rebounding numbers are pretty much what you expect from a stretch four in the NBA today.

Horford has the kind of skills and physical attributes that allow him to be effective at either the PF or C position in today's NBA, but now that his game has become more perimeter oriented he's a more natural fit at the PF spot.

My biggest worries with Horford up front are our rebounding and (to a lesser degree) rim protection.  I'd love to add Noel because throwing him in the middle alongside Horford would negate those concerns.

I also feel like Noel's potential could jump significantly playing alongside a level headed big with Horford's experience.
