Bragging rights, Predict Celtics Season Record

Everyone is in the 50's range so I'll play devils advocate and say the injury bug will hit some of our key players for longer stretches this season.

I was very conservative last year figuring them for 40 wins and 9th in the East.  Swinging the other way this year. 

51-31.  First in Atlantic.  Third in East.

53-29.  I think that adds up to 82.  We lose a few more in March than one might expect as it takes a little while to get Boogie Cousins acclimated after our deadline acquisition, but we get rolling when t counts and make it all the way to the finals before the Warriors defeat us.

Base case scenario

Curious, what would you give up for Boogie?

Both Brooklyn picks and Yab.  Either Amir or Zeller+Jerebko for the salaries.  The NBA is going small.  A frontcourt of Horford and Cousins zigs when everyone (except the Cavs) zags.  I'd prefer the deal to happen before training camp, in which case I'd adjust my win projection to 59-23.  But I think a Cousins deal happens by the deadline.  Sacramento is going to stink yet again, and Brooklyn will be cruising towards a bottom three record.  Ainge will push in his chips and get Boogie.

54-28. Almost everyone around here underestimated this team last year. I'm gonna try not to this year. Our young core is going to continue growing together, and Horford is gonna make a big impact. Rozier/Smart/Brown will be able to give us what Turner did as a group. Stevens is a savant.

I'd like to think we get to at least the second round, maybe further, and will be 2nd or 3rd in the East.

There is the possibility that Horford, at 30, has some crossings with the hated injury bug, and the team struggles in his absence.  Also possible Isaiah has one of his seemingly annual lower back injuries after a fall following a tough layup, and misses some time at an inconvenient place in the schedule.

The team might also have some issues with inconsistency in bench scoring, after letting Turner go.

Even with all of those possible concerns, I'd be surprised if they finish significantly below 50 wins.  But I agree it's a possibility.

This raises a question that interests me: Are the Celts as constituted more talented than the Hawks from a couple years ago?  I suppose this question merits a thread of its own.

I always thought we were more Talented than the Hawks even with Horford.. They were just more experienced, more confident and always had the home court..
