The upside for this kid is an athletic Evan Turner with a 3 point shot - and a top level defender on top of that. No way.
Turner is a terrific finisher at the rim and a terrific passer who does an excellent job weaving his way to the basket. He is also a terrific mid range shooter. His defense is not great but his length allows him to be solid. He lacks elite explosion and a 3 point shot.
Jaylen Brown is a superexplosive athlete who gets to the rim by exploding past defenders and bullying his way to the rim. Hes like a 1 cut running back. Hes a poor natural finisher and lives at the free throw line. He currently has a very eh midrange game and his passing ability is nothing to write home about.
I dont get the comp at all.
I see him as either a super explosive Jae Crowder or a super aggressive but less gifted Jeff Green
You think that's his upside? I would say that he has the
potential to be a more athletic, better-defending Derozan, which is a multiple-time, if not perennial, All-Star.
I don't necessarily like the Crowder comparisons. He's limited to straight-line drives due to his limited handle and athleticism, but he's much more built and solid than Brown.
Other than their athleticism, I don't like the Green comparisons either. He's already a better ball-handler than Green, and he's a 2/3 where Green is a 3/4, same with Crowder.
