What about this heist!

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=juhlwfd

I think Phil and Sac would be better off working 1-1.   Unless Doc really wants a couple Vets and Move JJ Redic.

If rumors are real... Phil could get Blake for almost nothing.   Say they send a couple future seconds to Sac for Rudy Gay.  Sac sends Gay to Clippers and also Jahil to the Clippers.    Clippers get a Phil 1st, Gay and Jahil.

It's really hard for me to see this deal occurring.  Griffin has such a high salary, it takes a lot of outgoing salary to match.  Meanwhile, Gay as an outgoing piece for Sacramento doesn't make enough for all of the salary to go back that direction from Boston.

This deal would work salary wise and seems like a solid starting point before picks are factored in.

Boston
Griffin
Koufus

LAC
Gay
Jerebko

Sacramento
Bradley
A. Johnson

I believe it's Crowder, not AB.

I don't.  Trading Jerebko and Crowder would mean they'd play a rotation of Brown/Hunter/Young at the 3 without another move.  If you're making a big trade to get someone with a year left on his deal, that isn't your rotation at the three.  Maybe Brown, but you need a vet for some of those minutes, and at the 3 in this league, always someone who can play defense.  Unless you want to watch Hunter and Young try to guard LeBron.

I'm not sure it's AB, although that seems reasonable.  I'll eat my shorts if it's Crowder and we don't have a capable small forward coming in from somewhere.

I dislike Griffin's on-court demeanor, but he's very talented and would no doubt help Boston a lot, so I'd love to get him if the price is right.

I've noticed, though, that a lot of the rumored/proposed deals involve Crowder, but he's the only true 3 we have, now that Turner's gone, so if a deal for Blake/Cousins/whoever went through, and it involved Crowder, would Danny have another deal lined up for a 3? Is that where the Budinger rumor fits in?

DA can't be that stupid. We'd basically be the Chicago Bulls if we had the floor spacing of IT, Smart, Crowder

Could Pierce be in the trade also for Griffin.

Yes, and there could also be a free musical wish and a smile over the radio.

I still don't buy this. Ever since Shira Springer indirectly cited Celtic Thug in a trade report for Rashard Lewis  (which wasn't legal under the CBA), I don't trust anything like this. TSN is basically citing gossip at summer league.

This works in the trade machine:

C's send: Johnson, Brown, Bradley, Zeller (S&T), Clips 19 pick
C's receive: Griffin, WCS, Pierce

Clips send: Griffin, Pierce
Clip's receive: Gay, Bradley, Zeller, Clips 19 pick

Sac send: Gay, WCS
Sac receive: Johnson, Brown

That's a good return for the Clippers and Boston should be happy as they get their impact star. Sac get a more experienced version of WCS in Amir to play with Cousins and get an excellent prospect in Brown, who I think they had targeted in the draft. You can add in a guard to Sac if needed. Adding Rozier would be a bit much but could be done. Maybe a pick comes back our way in return?

the article is filled with words like "a bit of speculation", "likely", "possibility"... there's really no information here.

I think it's talk and could happen or fall through like so many other countless rumors. Getting this all to work to DA's liking and everyone involved is no simple task.  It could happen though.  We are going to make moves eventually why not this one but I've been saying that for years.

It makes sense on the surface more than other deals just because it would put us in position to win a championship and Blake and Westbrook are probably leaving.  It does have validity to it in that regard.

So did Durant though.

  • That's turrible
I have a feeling that if we give up part of our core, it'll be Avery Bradley. Think about it...
1. Someone had posted on the first summer league forum that they had spoken with people close to the team who had said AB was unhappy with his contract and with the JB pick. Probably looking for big money too.
2. We have many guards. If Terry can do what he's doing in SL against pros, he'll be the ET in the second unit while Brown fills in Smarts position at 2/3 of being a defensive bulldog, but probably being able to score more.
3. Smart is on a cheaper contract and may very well take that next step next season. He may just be the starting 2.
4. I know he had his camp and all, but if AB needed to be at that meeting with Horford and Durant, I'm sure he could have moved it if he wanted to. He wasn't at those meetings. That could mean something too. Though this is probably one of the less convincing reasons.
5. Bradley's value is higher than ever after that All Defensive First team selection.

Once again, the mainstream media is days behind the internet amateurs who are tweeting stuff they get from their "sources." Seems a lot of leaking going on these days at every level. My impression is some in the mainstream know a lot more than they let on, but are restrained by their relationships with the teams they cover to say anything. That would be the beat writers.
Those amateurs on the tweets are under no such restraints. Hence an advantage. However, the downside is it's easy to make stuff up. In this case, at least the Griffin talk is not made up. Probably the best chance for a deal, because Doc and Danny are close. Doc owes Danny a lot for getting him to LA.

If they get Griffin, another domino could fall in Westbrook.
