Yes, we want a superstar but only this specific superstar. And you can't have Crowder, that's a deal breaker. And you can't have Bradley... Or Smart... Or any draft picks. You can have Amir. But no, Amir is better than Blake so nvm. Maybe Jonas... Okay, Jonas + a bag of popcorn + a sincere thank you.

Did you click my trade link? Did you think it was unreasonable? If so what do you think is reasonable for Westbrook?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I don't see the Celtics moving IT in a Westbrook deal. I see it going down without IT in the package. IT was too central to the recruiting process this summer, and has been close with Ainge on building this team the last few years. He just looks to be an integral part of what Ainge and Stevens have been building to trade him away now. He would work very well as a 6th man with Westbrook here.

I agree thinking about it.  I think Ainge values the current players a lot.  I mean... it is a real top level player in return but IT has been front and center.

If the Thunder pulled IT and Crowder from us, theyd be a much better team.

I think your trade was reasonable for OKC and Boston, don't think Denver would go for it without a Brooklyn pick.

Although the source of this is much more legit.

just watched the 2 min vid...must say I'm less than enthused at Westbrook, but will admit that he does make the C's more dynamic and he's a competitor. I'd much rather in this order:

  • Cousins
  • Westbook
  • Blake Griffin
who knows? maybe the celtics will get all three of them.  ;D

Must give Danny credit. Here's why, Danny has now (in theory) pitted 3 Western Conference teams against each other!

First you hear rumors about Griffin, then Cousins, and now Westbrook. There's gotta be someone on the C's side leaking this information and driving up the Celtics looking to do a deal.

Secondly, this is VERY strategic because you have the 2017 BKL pick which is looking more and more like a TOP 3 pick, which most likely will be used in any trade for anyone of these players....

WOW!!! Slow hand clap to Danny!

Does Westbrook for Smart, Rozier, Jerebko & 2017 BK pick (plus other non-BK picks) get this done?

Then follow up with Griffin & Pierce for 2018 BK pick, Bradley & Johnson:

Westbrook (18) / Thomas (30)
Hunter (30) / Westbrook (18)
Crowder (30) / Brown (18)
Griffin (36) / Pierce (12)
Horford (30) / Olynyk (18)

We have the obvious hole at shooting guard but if Hunter can play off the ball and hit outside shots, he's valuable on this team.

Not only is that pick looking better and better as free agency comes to an end. Our young guys are playing great, Jaylen Brown and Rozier have got to catch the eye of rival teams their showing great upside just what we need rather we trade them  or not.

Why can't RWB and IT start together?  RWB averaged 10 assist/game last year, and he would limit the need for IT to make those (admittedly brave) drives to the basket.  IT could hang by the 3 pt line.

That's more reasonable. But now that I'm really thinking about, IT doesn't make sense at all for them because they've given the keys to Mudiay. With that in mind, I think you'd have to give them a draft pick to make it worthwhile.

Jaylen Brown, AJ, 2018 Brooklyn pick, 2018 Celtics pick for Westbrook?

For a one-year rental?   Pass.

a) Convince me that Westbrook would truly want to stay in Boston and

b) Convince me how we can then convert IT into an upgrade at another part of our roster (since his talents would be under-utilized if pushed to the bench).   Please be explicit and don't just say, "Trade IT for a rim protector!"

then I'll consider this something we should think about doing.

Absent those two things, this sounds like a horrible idea.

Alternatively, convince me that a one-year rental of Westbrook would result in Banner 18.  I'd be okay with it then, of course.    'Not seeing it, though.

Would offer Smart, Rozier and Brk 18 with amir and filler

Wouldn't offer more than that for a possible 1 year rental.

Westbrook             IT
AB                           Hunter
Jae                         Brown
KO                          Yabu
Horford                 Mickey

Don't really love that roster.  Would need a major upgrade at PF/C. And possible upgrade at SG/sf

forgot to mention, but it's understood - Convo with Danny and other GM:
Danny: Team (OKC, LAC or SAC) you have a troubled star on your team, I (Danny) have PLENTY of assets to deal to you. Here's my offer.
GM: I'm not sure, about that deal, here's my counter offer.
Danny: This is my offer. If you don't like it, fine, I will deal with the OTHER teams - I'm sure you've seen ALL the rumors.
