Trolling NBA fans on twitter is apparently a national pastime.
lord knows it's easy to excite us
And it basically doesn't matter what the source is.  Prior to Durant's decision, some High Schooler in Rhode Island convinced half this forum Durant was coming to Boston.

That's because she was a cheerleader.

K... I read some of his tweets.  If I'm reading this idiot correctly, he's claiming that the offer for cousins/Blake is Amir + Jerebko + Zeller and the holdup is whether or not we'll include a 1st or 2nd rounder.

Quote
"LA wanted those 3 & '17 1st. #Celtics said no. There were offers asking for Mickey too that were decline as well"

C'mon.   A few days ago we were fully prepared to just let Amir, Jerebko and Zeller to walk for nothing.  We're gonna avoid giving up Jordan Mickey and a 1st rounder for Blake Griffin?

Ridiculous.

Can people please stop pretending that anyone on Twitter "breaking the news" about Horford a day before he signed is suddenly some sort of insider? Dude was down to two teams. Saying that a source is feeding you news on a 50/50 call is the easiest way to trick people into thinking you know what you're talking about.

Yeah his characterization of the packages being discussed is the single biggest argument against him knowing what he's talking about.  There's no way we're just offering Amir/Jerebko/Zeller, which amount to some mediocre big man depth, plus a little cap relief next offseason for SAC, but stonewalling on including a 1st.

He basically just said Mickey is too valuable to give up for Cousins.

I'm going to bed.

Haha. He wrote "Mickey is untouchable." So apparently he's a CelticsBlogger!

Even if a deal is agreed to in principle nothing will be announced until the MLB ALL Star game is over. For the most part the major sports leagues try to avoid announcements while the other leagues are having events. I guess its gentlemen s agreement not to steal the other leagues thunder.

Teams aren't supposed to announce trades on the day of an NBA Finals game, either, but that didn't stop the KG/Pierce trade getting leaked

Even if the NBA wants to keep it on the down-low, there's no way Woj and the like would sit on it for an entire day
I'm bitter.

I wish we could have gotten more value out of the #3 pick. Dunn was the best value pick and teams wanted him in trades, would have been great to do something like/around a package of #3 for Zach Lavine and the #5 and trade the #5 for Okafor or we could have selected Jaylen Brown at #5.....I would rather Lavine and Okafor.

Now if we were trading the picks for a stud player like Boogie or Griffin, our team would be stacked....I could see Okafor and Lavine being great as IT like 6th men, coming off the bench and messing the other team up and exhausting them.

you know, i think if ainge really likes those players and if he could get those deals done, he really would.....

anyway

really hope we could hold onto the 17 Brooklyn pick at least...its so stacked... =.=

I hope dude, sometimes I get scared. I just think that w/ Winslow and even guys like Stanley Johnson and etc Ainge could have gotten one of them for less and kept the value of the pick or increased it.

I wouldn't have traded Dunn for Okafor or for Lavine personally.  I wouldn't have even trden Dunn for Okafor AND Lavine probably.  He's just got too much potential.

Brown for Okafor straight up...I'd have to very seriously consider it.

All I've read indicated that Ainge could had Okafor for #3 easily if he wanted to - but he just wasn't high on Okafor.  I can understand that when there is a guy as talented as Dunn on the board...

But to turn down a trade for Okafor/Noel and then use the pick on Brown....that confused me. I get Brown has upside, but is he going to be better then Okafor and / or Noel 3 years from now?  I don't know...

Would any of you guys trade Johnson, Jerebko, Smart, 2018 Brooklyn, and 2019 Clippers pick for Blake Griffin??
I would in a heartbeat. Then sign Terrance Jones and Scola to team friendly deals and we got ourselves a squad.

PG: Isaiah Thomas
SG: Avery Bradley
SF: Jae Crowder
PF: Blake Griffin
C: Al Horford
6th man: Kelly Olynyk
7th man: Terry Rozier
8th man: Luis Scola
9th man: RJ Hunter
10th man: Jaylen Brown

Clearly need to upgrade our second unit, but either way that's a dynamic squad.
