If its Griffin, that gives us a perfect counterpart to Horford in the front court in my opinion.  Not many teams have the ability to defend the 4 and 5 combination those guys present.
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

Griffin and Pierce to Boston.

Gay, crowder, Olynyk and mclemore to clippers. Plus the pick they moved for Jeff green.

Amir, rozier, and hunter to Kings.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=hunt3dw

Picking up Griffin & Pierce and losing Amir, Crowder, RJ, Rozier, KO shows us MINUS 19 wins?

It's probably blowing up by what it does to our projected starting lineup. Turning Crowder (a borderline All-Star by some advanced stats) into Pierce (a hall of famer but rates out as one of the worst players in the league by current PER). And then Amir and KO leave us with little big man depth.

Of course that's a long way of saying it's obviously wrong.

That said, can we stop putting PP into trades? I hope he signs a 1 day contract and retires with us, but his playing career is either over, or maybe 1 more year as a veteran presence at the end of the bench.

Best passing frontcourt in the league with those two. Griffin is a big man who has put up 5 apg on the same team as Chris Paul. That's pretty amazing.

At first I panned any prospect of Gay being a big piece in a Clippers trade, but it does make some sense. Clippers will have money to spend next summer and may have already decided against a mega contract for Griffin. Getting a good (but lesser) player who fits, plus multiple other assets is plausible. We also don't know just how bad the locker room situation is.

  • GOT IT!!!
I always assumed Doc would ride out that group and end losing them all for nothing. Maybe his GM skills are better than anyone thought though? Nah lol

he's a great coach, he's never lost a playoff series with a fully healthy squad!

The radio guy I don't buy.

Smith, however, is a decent source.

At first I was skeptical about Griffin being available, but I think the shift of power in the West (Durant to GSW forming a super team) may have put Doc in the mindset that they wouldn't be able to get past them with their current group. So they are probably looking for some assets rather than letting Griffin simply walk away with his upcoming free agency, much like Durant did with OKC getting the short end of the stick. I'm dubious about Griffin's mindset because of how close he is with Deandre Jordan and Chris Paul, I wonder if he would embrace Boston.

I've read that Griffin hates CP3, and he doesn't like Doc either.

Trading for Blake has the same problems as trading for Westbrook.  He is a free agent in 2017.

This is not happening.

In that case, this seems even more realistic. Maybe Griffin is the one that Wyc was referring to when he said the latest trade talk involved a "difficult" player since he had the misdemeanor battery incident when he broke his hand.

That's not why. I actually wouldn't care if they gave up the Brooklyn pick for a legit star with one year on his contract for a shot in the dark at the NBA Title. The reason is because I don't want to see Danny Ainge pass on Giles and others for the best player in the draft without offensive ability.

Smith who? Have anyone else corroborated this rumor yet? Hope there's some truth to it. Not sure how I feel about gutting the roster and missing out on the 2017 draft, though.

You guys should really stop thinking about it like "this guy is or isn't plugged in".

This dude works in the studio at 98.5, the radio station most used by Celtic brass for interviews and such. He's not a reporter. Him being right on the Horford thing doesn't mean he's "an insider". Just like being wrong on the Sox means he's not.

People can have connections with FO members. People can hear things from those connections that they might tell other people.

He doesn't have to be lying or telling the truth, I think he honestly is just telling people what he heard from someone close to or in the FO. He doesn't have to be vindicated by a trade happening. I don't are why it's improbable he's just saying what he heard?

Yeah Im sure he hears some things, but I'm sure he also misinterprets some things.  He told people he was hearing Durant was coming to Boston.  This is likely nothing.
