Sully is no longer a celtics

I for one am sad to see Sully go.

He is a really talented ball player, arguably as talented as anyone from a natural skills standpoint.  That we got a player who legitimately is a double-double threat every night (as one of the better rebounders in the league) at the 21st pick was quite a steal.

Once Danny saw the deals that went out for players who have accomplished much less and are less talented than Sully, I am sure he knew it was over.  He should get over $10M a year given his production.  I am wondering if this health/fitness is delaying his signing.

It is the right move to let him move on.  We signed Horford, drafted 3 guys who can play PF, and we still have Jerebko and Crowder.  There just isn't enough time for all these players, especially if we make a deal for Okafor.

We will miss his rebounding.

In the Cavs series last year he was one of our best players and the first half of this year he might have been our 2nd or 3rd best 2-way guy. Hope hes successful.

Felt him and Turner were really keys to our success this year.

Long term letting them go was the right decision. Horford is a superior player to Sully and with Turner Brown Rozier and Smart have far higher ceilings.

Brooklyn really does seem inevitable. Warriors and Clippers can only offer the vet's min (not sure about the Lakers' cap situation). It doesn't make sense for him to take the vet's min when he's only coming off of his rookie deal, the NBPA would go nuts. And quite frankly, I don't see Sully caring about winning that much to sacrifice financially.

I do not believe we have replaced Turner yet. it is true that we may have his replacement on board already, but that still means someone has to step up to fill the gap that his departure has created. Now we let Sully, our best rebounder, go for nothing in return.

The fact that ET was at one time a #2 pick for Philly in 2010 is irrelevant.  C's didn't spend a #2 to get him.    We did, of course, spend the 21 to get Sully.  But that's NBA life for 21st picks -- those still playing after 4 years that is.

There has to be another shoe to drop.  But if you watched the playoffs the past two seasons it should be no surprise why they renounced Sully.   He made Ainge's decision a farily easy one - even though for the time being there are major holes on the team.

Anyone out there think if Sully gets his act together he'll be as good as Horford in 2 or 3 years?

He's what 23 now?  I guess there is a chance he could smarten up like Zach Randolph.

I'm just scared he figures it out with another team and we're left here wondering what could have been.
I have little doubt he'll perform well with another team.  I suspect he'll be a 14/8 player for someone and have a solid pro career
