Wyc suggested that Danny is still in trade talks with one of the teams we negotiated with during draft day. Since Chicago doesn't appear interested in giving away Butler anymore, Philly is the only other team being mentioned - and thus far, Okafor is who we are targetting.

As it stands, the asking price is high (I would imagine they are seeking one of our BRKYLN picks) but whatever we offer, we'll likely need to include a core player and/or a prospect.

I feel it makes little sense to trade away Crowder, given how much he's improved and the great salary value that comes with his contract (not to mention there is little depth on the position in which he plays).

Of the 3 core players that have been mentioned in reports, Smart is the only one who hasn't lived up to his potential - given his offensive woes. Nor has he played his way into the lineup, and despite the draft capital spent on him, he remains a role player on the bench. Trading him away doesn't exactly diminish our depth, but it takes away one of the most versatile defenders on our team - someone who may someday prove to be an All-Star (!) Many of us are hoping that Marcus will take a gigantic leap forward in Year 3. I myself am hesitant to trade away his potential, but the fact is, he currently offers the least offensive production of the 3.

Bradley, on the other hand, is a known commodity, a solid shooter, and an All-NBA defender. But he's gonna demand higher pay when his contract ends, and I'm not sure if it helps to limit our flexibility while the rebuild is still ongoing. Danny may want to let him go elsewhere, and get something in return while he still can.  But when it comes to putting pressure on ball-handlers and PGs, there is no better defender out there. Replacing his unique skillset could prove difficult, but I for one see Bradley as an invaluable contributer, who excels at his defined role, and is a legitimate offensive player.

I'm torn between Smart and Bradley. Who's your choice to be traded?

Don't touch Crowder, man.  He's the heart and soul of this team.  I vote Smart.

None of them, I hope.  I'd give them Rozier and one or two late picks, though (i.e. Boston 2018, Memphis, or Clippers picks)

Smart is much more valuable to us right now due to showing that he's already a rotation player for a good team, and his much bigger size gives him much more defensive versatility than TR, which is very useful to us.

I think TR becomes a good rotation player for us this year, but I expect Smart is much higher on our list than TR right now.

They are top heavy with guards. Rozier, Jackson and even Thornton have looked good in the summer league. They might get away with dealing one of these  plus a draft pick (not Nets) for Okafor or Noel. I prefer Okafor off his 20/10 performance the start of last season before he started playing with Noel. Okafor can score inside and protect the middle with his length. I hope they can make a deal because, right now, they don't have the inside-outside balance to be contenders.

I agree Butler is out of the picture. I think Ainge reminds the Bulls management too much of ex-Celtic Thibodeau to deal with him. They dealt Dunleavy to the Cavs, which could be telling you something. The Bulls are screwed up--that was evident when they fired Thibodeau. Maybe why Gasol left. Wade at this point doesn't help them much.

I was surprised a Philly-Celtics deal didn't go through draft time. Ainge and Colengelo go back to the Phoenix days. Maybe they'll still work something out.

I would not deal Crowder, Smart or Bradley for Okafor. That's the heart of their defense.

Can't say I know the ins and outs of NBA dealing, but wouldn't Philly want to recoup their draft capital, by exchanging their #3 pick (Okafor) for our #5 pick (Smart). Seems like they'd want fair value + other (hopefully non-BRKYLN) picks

Don't understand why everyone is so eager to trade away Smart. He's already a better player than Bradley, as he's better defensively, and offensively he's better at everything except shooting. He's also younger with much more room to grow, and he's on a rookie deal for two more years.
