Wyc suggested that Danny is still in trade talks with one of the teams we negotiated with during draft day. Since Chicago doesn't appear interested in giving away Butler anymore, Philly is the only other team being mentioned - and thus far, Okafor is who we are targetting.
As it stands, the asking price is high (I would imagine they are seeking one of our BRKYLN picks) but whatever we offer, we'll likely need to include a core player and/or a prospect.
I feel it makes little sense to trade away Crowder, given how much he's improved and the great salary value that comes with his contract (not to mention there is little depth on the position in which he plays).
Of the 3 core players that have been mentioned in reports, Smart is the only one who hasn't lived up to his potential - given his offensive woes. Nor has he played his way into the lineup, and despite the draft capital spent on him, he remains a role player on the bench. Trading him away doesn't exactly diminish our depth, but it takes away one of the most versatile defenders on our team - someone who may someday prove to be an All-Star (!) Many of us are hoping that Marcus will take a gigantic leap forward in Year 3. I myself am hesitant to trade away his potential, but the fact is, he currently offers the least offensive production of the 3.
Bradley, on the other hand, is a known commodity, a solid shooter, and an All-NBA defender. But he's gonna demand higher pay when his contract ends, and I'm not sure if it helps to limit our flexibility while the rebuild is still ongoing. Danny may want to let him go elsewhere, and get something in return while he still can. But when it comes to putting pressure on ball-handlers and PGs, there is no better defender out there. Replacing his unique skillset could prove difficult, but I for one see Bradley as an invaluable contributer, who excels at his defined role, and is a legitimate offensive player.
I'm torn between Smart and Bradley. Who's your choice to be traded?
