People constantly assume that strong summer league and D-League performances translate directly to the association.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

That's why obsessing over the summer league is time from your life you'll never get back. Summer league means absolutely nothing, and the D-League just a tad more than nothing.

This. Fun to imagine what it could be, be hopeful of what some players might become... but sadly (in incredibly most cases), far from what it actually is.

Don't worry, it will still be Groundhog Day around here despite the fact that this is said literally every summer.

90 percent of this board is people talking about what if's though.  What if we got this guy or that guy etc.  I agree it's pointless.  If I come on here and say hey jordan mickey might be a player for us though it's going to be misunderstood regardless.  I like to think I know what's going on that's all that matters.  Sometimes I do. Sometimes I don't. Sometimes I ramble. Ah well.

I more was trying to change the subject to summer league anyways because that's what is going on right now.  Sick of the Durant stuff and how we are trading for so and so every day of the week.

At least Mickey is on this team in some fashion.

Amir is good too.  Here's some Amir highlights.  It is kind of interesting the difference between d-league and a seasoned pro. Some of these young guys need that seasoning but it takes time. They get hurt etc...  Need to develop.  Patience is good.

Amir is now.  Mickey could be the future there as a roleplayer. Ainge knows what he is doing.

  • That's turrible
Mickey will get his minutes this year. Most likely backing up Amir at Center and grabbing some PF here and there. He'll get his time if Zeller/Sullinger walk.

I think it is better for a kid to do well at any level than not do well.  Yes, it does not translate well to the NBA but it is a good sign if the kid does well.  If a kid does not do well wouldn't you worry a bit?

Look at these 2015 stats a lot of these guys are guys you would expect to do well

I agree. I want our young guys to do well. It's good for the celtics.  Even James young.  I really like how Ainge manages this team.  It makes perfect sense to me.

Listening to talk radio is like listening to a bunch of women gossip.  It's not basketball.  It is in ways and it's a stars league but tired of the same.

I like watching these guys develop.

“It’s a big summer for him, but it’s not that big,” Shrewsberry said. “He’s a guy that’s under contract; he wants to play. He’s mad that he can’t be with us now.”

I like shot blockers too.  I more see  Mickey as a roleplayer but Ben Wallace was a guy we gave up on too soon that turned out alright.  Right now we have Horford and Amir.  That's a prety good front line.  Mickey could be a roleplayer there some day.

He's a legit shot blocker.   We haven't had many of those. Stiemsma and guys like that were projects with limited upside.

He isn't the tallest or most explosive shot blocker but times his leaps really well and has a very quick burst getting off his feet and knows how to use his arms and position himself that way to block the shot.

Amir is actually very similar that way. Mickey might have more upside in that regard.

Nice game by Mickey yesterday

What a full court end to end block shot

Mickey to Taj Gibson comparisons are sound.

Mickey needs to play alongside a solid rebounder like horford or zizic (future potential). Bc we need him to patrol the paint and out to the perimeter to defend

agreed. i was impressed he seems to have a jump shot now. that makes him much more valuable.

his team defense still looks shakey on rotations, etc. but again, these are things he might be able to learn.

he might be a rotation guy this season. that would be nice.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
