I feel the same too. Ainge put us in the absolute best position and there is not one team in the nba with as much going for it with regard to the future and the present. So rare to have a team that can compete for a conference title/chance at the finals and have a few shots and the number 1 pick at the exact same time. I am sure there might have been a few teams over the years but honestly the last one I remember is the Celtics in 1986. Coming off their 84 championship and being one of the best teams out there and traded Gerald Henderson for the Sonics pick in 1986 which was number 2 (unfortunately it was Len Bias) but it was still the last time I remember a team have the present and future at their feet at the same time.

Danny Ainge did absolutely everything he could have reasonably done to set up a team for Durant to lead, and convince him to join us. If GSW doesn't exist, Durant is probably a Celtic right now or at least in 2017.  But GSW does exist.

The point is that Ainge did not mortgage one single piece of our current youth or our future to get to that point.  That is mastery of what he did.

Not sure what you are getting at.  The fans were irate because they believed (at least this was my impression) that drafting Dunn would open up the door to Butler or a trade with Philly.  That's what I mean by 'knew something that Danny didn't.'

It is very clear to me given what I have seen from Brown and what I knew about him at the time that he was the right pick.  And it retrospect it looks even better.

As much as I can't stand Steven A. Smith n think he's a waste of airtime on any national level, he was dead on about Durant and how he said this was the all time weakest move he's ever seen an all star make. Durant has lost all my respect as far as basketball goes he's made the absolute worse decision ever choosing the Warriors. I hope Durant breaks his ankle n misses the entire season. That's how I feel about that. Danny had no clue Durant would go to GS or he wouldn't of had that meeting

I don't know about everyone.  I've been right with hiim. There are only so many stars in the nba that can get us a title.  Ainge himself tried really hard for Durant.  We can only control so much as far as stars in the league.

making a ridiculous trade for a fringe star like Jimmy Butler never made sense to me.  We could have just pitched it to durant that if he really REALLY wanted us to overpay for a guy like Butler, we could do it down the line.  He wanted to go bandwagon onto a 73 win team so he could ensure he got some jewelry.

Do people really think this?  After these last playoffs, I now think GSW would have lost that first finals if Kyrie/Love weren't injured.  2 finals in a row I now am starting to think Steph has no balls.  Durant is no different, and he just proved it by putting his tail between his legs and crawling to the GSW. 

Draymond, Klay, and Iggy are the heart and soul of this team.  Iggy is old as hell I honestly don't see him getting through this entire season on this thin of a roster, and Draymond is a ticking time bomb mental case.  Steph and Durant are both mental midgets.

Disagree with the OP. I don't think it's that Ainge knew we wouldn't land Durant. It's probably more the case that he had multiple scenarios mapped out and he didn't put all his eggs in one basket.

I disagree.  Losing Bogut and Barnes will definitely hurt them on both ends, so it'll be interesting to see how they manage to fill out the roster.  I'm not sure that Durant fits that well, especially on defense, with Golden State, quite honestly, but we'll see.  I'm probably wrong, as usual, lol .
