I don't see where GP II makes any sense. A limited pg when we already have 12. We have marcus and bradley and rozier who are the same kind of defensive guards but way better. We need anther one?
Young's D may suck but at least he plays another position and is supposed to be a wing shooter scorer of sorts.
I don't see where passing up talent ever makes sense, and rosters are hardly static under Danny Ainge, anyway. It was a really deep draft this year, imo, even into the undrafted pool, lol, so we should have taken as much talent as possible and worked out the rest later, in my view. I'd rather have that problem as opposed to later regretting not taking a player simply because they didn't 'fit', but we are where we are
. Sigh.
And the key word in regards to James Young being that kind of player is supposed, haha
. Ugh.
If DA went into every draft just drafting the best talent he could this roster would be a cluster f of young players though that we can't all play or sign when they are up for contract. They would all play similar positions and do similar things too. Most GM's don't draft this way. Mark Cuban might lol, and look how he ends up with a lot of overpaid roleplayers. I just think it's funny he's the one who jumped at barnes and bogut. A team like miami might hit on whiteside or whatever late. We even did that with Rondo but most of the time Ainge is trying to manage the roster.
But aren't we already in that position in terms of how many guards we have, lol? Ainge has always said that he takes the bpa, regardless of fit, so what's wrong with taking as much of the best talent available as he can? It's not like teams ever have 8 picks, anyway. As you undoubtedly know, usually, teams just have two, but because of Danny's wheeling and dealing, the picks are the yield of all of those trades and were included as at least some sort of compensation, so by not using them, or not using them wisely, haha, we're not giving ourselves any chance of offsetting the loss of Rondo, Pierce, Garnett, Green, etc., nor improving the talent on our club. That just makes absolutely no sense to me. If you don't go into any and every draft trying to get the best talent available at your respective spot(s), why are you a gm in the first place?
Plus scouting this draft, ainge knows who's good and I can guarantee there aren't any players we are going to overly regret. Some maybe that might turn out good but there are no paul george's later this draft.
I really hope that you're right.
We could go into this draft and take Lavert later and Lawawu down teh line but I don't know. I think Ainge did alright. What are those players going to do for us?
Umm, make us better, lol?
