Tough break - lets hope Jaylen Brown becomes as good as he wants to be (a top 5 NBA player). That is our best bet with the Brooklyn picks in tow.

Al Horford, Jaylen Brown, Jae Crowder, Marcus Smart (Avery Bradley), Isiah Thomas along with a strong bench means 55 wins and an ECF trial against the Cavaliers. We will still give everybody the business.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Welp :-\. As always, whatever Jerry West wants, Jerry West gets.  I knew that the Celtics should have brought Gisele to that meeting, lol ;D.

Another TP to  you Beat LA. You called Jerry Wizard West.... he sold Durant on 'outside business' with the ownership in Silicon Valley, just like he sold Shaq on Hollywood.

I am seriously thinking of not renewing League Pass. This just sucks out the competition in the NBA.

Being an OKC/Durant/Boston fan, I'd like to know how Endless Paradise is feeling right now. Did you see this coming? How do you feel about him moving to Golden State?

lol at everyone on here saying the 4-time scoring champion with an MVP award ruined his legacy by going to a team where he'll have a good chance at winning a championship.
i mean, do you think this WON'T tarnish his reputation?

Of course it will.
It definitely won't hurt his legacy. Everyone cried the same story when Lebron jumped to Miami and everyone was wrong then, too.

If Durant's decision today had been to retire, he'd be a first ballot HoF'er and probably be considered one of the top 25 players of all time. Whether or not you like the decision, going to GS doesn't change ny of that.

Lebron didn't go to a 73 win team that just knocked him out of the playoffs to play 2nd (or 3rd) fiddle to the reigning MVP.  This is much more egregious.  He will be remembered as a guy afraid of competition and wanted to be handed rings in the middle of his prime.  There is nothing great or inspirational about that.
All of that was said about Lebron and now, 6 years later, we just got done debating whether or not he was better than Larry Bird. Short term, people aren't going to like it, but long term this doesn't hurt Durant.

The one thing I'll say is that if he makes this move and then doesn't win a ring, then his legacy is in trouble.

According to sources, Anthony Davis is nearing a deal with the Golden State Warriors for 2 yrs at the veteran's minimum. Jimmy Butler is demanding a trade from the Bulls to the Warriors, multiple sources say. Warriors offer a 3rd round pick, Brandon Rush, and a bag of gummy bears.  Bulls seem to be nearing a deal.

I know you're joking, but what if the spike in salary next year allows them yet another max contract? Westbrook? Sure. Why not?

I think all 28 other teams should tank to protest, and everyone outside of San Fran and Cleveland should cancel their league pass.

Expected him to stay, would've respected him leaving for any other team besides Golden State. Frontrunning move that diminishes his stature in my irrelevant and subjective player rankings. He's still the second-best player in the league, in my eyes, but the gulf between him and LeBron widens significantly.

He's definitely taken a hit as far as being my favorite player. Just seems like a such a weak move on his part. I don't hate him or even dislike him, but he just seems pretty corny to me now.

No, haha, don't worry about that. Cap is going to go up ~13 million next year, and they are going to  have to re-up Curry, and they don't have full bird right's for Durant. They probably need the space to keep their roster together let alone getting another max player.

It will be close, but the cap holds on Curry, Durant, Iguodala, and Livingston will eat up enough of the cap that it causes issues for them (Durant especially will have a massive cap hold figure), now if they renounce Iggy and Livingston they could potentially squeeze another guy in, but that would leave them once again without a bench and they would lose Iggy (since they are obviously keeping Curry and Durant ).  Curry on the other hand will be the last to sign since his cap hold is only 16.4 million and his contract would be over 30 million, they would get a clear savings in holding off on signing him.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

It will not.

Curry has his new deal coming up and Durant is on a 1 + 1 deal. Steph's cap hold will be 18 million and Durants will be 30% of the salary cap so around 30-32 approximately.

Just Klay, Durant, Curry, and Green is thus 82is, add in minimum roster charges of 562,000 * 8 = 4.496 so that's 86-87 million

Salary cap is approximately 108 million by estimates, that's 26 million in room. That's below a max salary cap slot.

And this assumes everyone that is not one of those 4 players is renounced and gone and they trade their draft picks (not sure if they have any to trade)

Curry's relatively low cap hold will give them some seriously flexibility next offseason, but thats it. After that they are locked in as soon as he signs his new max deal.

I think the more likely scenario is that they resign Iggy to smaller deal add some complimentary pieces around the team with the cap room or exceptions depending on how much Iggy demands.

Edit: Though a "smaller" deal for Iggy is likely around his current salary given the cap inflation even with his decline as a player.

Well I won't renew my premium league pass subscription this year.
I will go back to streaming/downloading.

And the jilted lover name calling begins.  Grow up people!

Can't speak for anyone else but I'd be just as disappointed in Durant if we were never under consideration.  This is LeBron to Miami x10.  Joining a 73 win team that's already won a chip is ring-chasing and taking the easy way out at the most extreme we'll ever see it.

Exactly. This has been the sentiment the entire time on this blog. There wouldn't be this reaction if he went back to OKC. There'd be disappoint, but it would make sense. GS doesn't make sense since this will ultimately ruin his perception in the league as a top-3 player.
Except, we were getting this same reaction on this board in the 30 window when it looked like Horford was going back to ATL.

So really, it doesn't matter all that much;  celtic fan was going to spew hate regardless.  The justification was the only variable here.
