2016 Summer League Thread

FYI, we're playing at 8 pm Eastern on ESPN 2 tonight.

Well if your toddler is anything like my toddler, that must mean it's your dinner time lol I swear I can't eat anything without a mooch over here begging like a dog for some!

I don't even try to eat before he's gone to bed. Also, he's developed some taste for "ba-ball", so I  managed to see the first quarter before dealing with him.

Surprisingly Bentil and Jackson have looked bad in summer league. I thought they were our two best value picks on draft night.

Nader deserves a roster spot more than Young, Bentil or Jackson.

Anytime anyone other than Rozier tried to run the offense the Celtics turned the ball over.

The Celtics seemed to employ the switching defense they prefer during the summer league. The result, we got killed in the post/on the boards anytime a big got switched onto a wing. It is good for development but not so good for our summer league record.

It's interesting to see him (maybe) pan out after all, but why the facepalm? It's not like we had much chance to get him when MIL shocked everyone and took him at #10. For all we know Danny would have nabbed him at #16 or #23.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought that if there was one team who would take him that early before the rumor on draft night was made public via Chad Ford, iirc, it would be Milwaukee, just given their track record with the Greek Freak , and I do believe that we could have gotten him, along with Poeltl the Turtle , but we would have had to commit to a full rebuild in order to do so, most likely, imo, which is not a popular view on this blog, and that's fine .  It's just frustrating seeing a 7'1 guy from high school have more skills than the guy we took at 3, imo.  Welp .

Would you not be disappointed if he turned into the Porzingis of this draft, in a way, because I think that a great deal of people would be, and with good reason, imo.

What good reason? We had no plausible way of knowing we needed to move up to #9 to get him. Can't feel bad about every player we don't draft. Nobody here, nor anywhere else thought that he'd be gone by #16. Poeltl we knew would be gone at that point, that's true.

I think we can all agree that MIL was a logical team to make that gamble, but it's not like anyone knew they were going to pull the trigger than early.
