jerry west is smart.  I was thinking it was him that put that team together in 2004.  He left in 2002 and it was Kupchak. West is a great gm. he built the 80's lakers.  The lakers 3 peat with kobe and shaq and the grizzlies and now the warriors. His resume is much more extensive than Danny Ainge at this point as a GM.

Seems to me like he didn't like losing to Russell too much.  The Lakers under him as a GM won more than us over the last several years.

We are sort of in his position now if he lands Durant where we are fighting an uphill battle.

Nobody ever accused LeBron of joining the Heat, because he couldn't beat the Heat.   LeBron was leading a 66 win Cavs team with Mo Williams as his 2nd best player.  The 4 years prior to LeBron joining the Heat that team managed to win:  44 wins, 15 wins, 43 wins and 47 wins.  They hadn't gotten out of the 1st round in 4 years.  They also had to give away Michael Beasley (their former #2 pick) for a 2nd rounder despite the fact he had just put up averages of 15 points and 6 rebounds - they did that just to make cap space.  Would be the equivalent of us giving away Marcus Smart for a 2nd rounder just to make cap space.

But if Durant joins the Warriors (as it's starting to seem more and more likely from "experts"), they will absolutely accuse him of joining the team he couldn't beat.  Like if Jordan had said "no mas" and joined the Pistons after years of abuse from them.   Durant will be seen as pathetic.  They will destroy him.   Even if he has a great season and helps them win a championship - the damage will be done.   Steph will get the credit for the title.

I wouldn't say that they're similar situations at all.  The Pistons beat Jordan 3 years in a row, whereas this past Western Conference Finals was Durant's first series against Golden State, I believe.  Of course, Jordan also never got up on the Pistons 3-1 and still lost, lol ;D. I kind of get what you're saying, but the sample size is too small, for me, if that makes any sense.

I wanted the Warriors to win it all this season (and last) but if KD joins them I'll immediately cheer for LeBron and the Cavs in the finals.

Co-sign.  But KD isn't going to Golden State.

How positive are you about your source? Because I've heard so many different things today!

Just saw this on Twitter harsh but funny, you stay classy C's fans

https://twitter.com/royceyoung/status/749827432358686721?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

That's despicable and behavior unbecoming of a Celtics fan, imo.

Yep, no excuse for behavior like that. It's disgusting, frankly.

I don't use instagram, so can someone who does find out what was said?  I tried looking at his account but it appears to be private - hopefully not because of what these 'people' just said.

I tweeted him an apology and told him that most Cs fans aren't like that.

Outstanding, TP.  Thank you :).

That's a pretty cruel joke by a respected poster. I think if this were false, it would be more of a reflection on the source than saltlover himself.

I don't know what that word means but yeah! Go team!
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Bill Russell should be on three-way with Kevin Garnett talking KD up telling him he will win 10 titles in Boston and KG telling him anything is possible

I'm really hoping that this is a phone conversation ;), lol ;D.

Incarcerated Bob claims he knows which team Durant has chosen but is reluctant to tell it on twitter.

https://twitter.com/incarceratedbob/with_replies

So this guy has finally posted some updates. Before I post his updates, I should say that before he posted his updates, he was quoting that well-known scene from that Warriors movie ie "Warriors, come out to play!" and the subliminal message I got from those tweets were that it's between the Warriors and the Celtics.

His listed updates are:
-Durant initially chose the Warriors but he is having second thoughts
-The reason why is because he doesn't want the same rep as Lebron did in Miami (aka ringchaser)
-Durant's mom apparently wants to leave OKC.

Take it for what its worth. I've heard so many different things today.

Attention seeking.

Plus he only gets that one phone call ;).  Maybe he's trying to negotiate a shorter sentence (sarcasm), lol ;D.

Where do you think Durant will rank as far as all time Celtics if he comes here?

He hasn't even played but on pure talent alone he has got to be top 3? Bird, Russell and Durant?  Maybe even over KG just on pure talent level.

#1 Russell
#2 Bird
#3 Cowens
#4 Garnett

IF Durant were to choose the Celts, he would have to lead the team to titles to even be considered among the above cornerstones of our four championship eras.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce
