  • That's turrible
Brown, while versatile, is mainly a 3, a position played primarily by both Durant and Jae. I get that at that point we'd basically be in "Win Now" mode, but this is the 3rd pick in the draft. I'd like to see him play and develop as a fan. Where would he go on the depth chart? Does Crowder just play more 4 instead of 3?

With the league going to more and more small ball lineups, I think the opportunity to play minutes would be there. Brown is only 19 and probably won't be able to get regular minutes right off the bat. He's got the potential to be special so they could probably afford to let him develop.

It would be a good problem to have if Durant signs here lol :)

I think Brown could play the 2, he's athletic enough and he's the same height as Thompson, and that works. So after next season he could be a starter.

KD can play PF in a small ball line up, and may when he gets older, he has the length for it.

I imagine Brown will have a good amount of opportunity coming off the bench to get some minutes.  Remember, Stevens has said he doesn't use a traditional 1-5, but rather 4 positions:  Ball Handler, Wing Man, Swing Man (guys who can play the 3 and small ball 4, for example), and Big Man.  Brown is both a wing man and a swing man.

He should be able to play right off the bat as a defensive player off the bench, backing up anyone 1-4.  I think if Brown is playing you just need someone else in the lineup that can handle the ball as that does not look like his strong point right now.

Imagine a small ball defensive lineup of Smart, Bradley, Brown, Crowder, and Mickey?  I think Brown could pair well with a lot of our guys, as long as you don't rely on him as your primary ball handler.

As for Durant, I think you cross that bridge when you get to it.  Brown should be versatile enough to fit into the puzzle somewhere.

Good, versatile pick from Ainge.  I'm excited to see how he does!

Well said, TP.

Both Durant and Brown can play 2-4.

We know Durant told Ainge he would like to play with Horford.

I wonder if he asked Durant his views on the draft. Who he likes. Could be Brown figures in there, too.

Very doubtful.  And I would be disappointed if a FA who hasn't even decided to join us was making our draft decisions.

Now if Durant wants to join and it's conditional on us signing free agent Y, that's another matter imo.  But they both need to sign at the same time!

if that happens, Brown comes off the bench behind either Durant (Crowder off the bench for a guard)

IT/Smart
Bradley/Crowder (assuming we let Turner walk)
Durant/Brown
Horford/Kelly
New Center (Assuming we cannot sign Amir and use his salary to sign both Durant/Horford)

or you can trade either Brown or Crowder
