I really am not a fan of Noel.  I don't see potential for him on offense at all.  It'd be grabbing the "rim protector" that won't actually make this team much better.

it better be with another first rounder and saric coming back cause noel is hot garbage and doesn't do crap for the celtics.

Noel is actually a younger and better version of DeAndre Jordan. Not much for offense but with space and pace, he's the perfect 5 and most importantly DEFENSIVE anchor in our system.

Better than DeAndre Jordan?  ::)

Compare their stats by age and he's clearly a better all-around player than DJ, and I love DJ.
I don't see Noel suddenly making the leap to being a 14 rpg player, but that's just me.

Noel for the #3 would be a huge mistake. Address rim protection in FA, and if you can't look towards Noel next year.
I hope Ainge doesn't take the bait in desperation.

Plus, it opens the door for Danny to pursue his beloved Love again. Noel would cover up Love's defensive ills at the rim.

I can definitely see this happening.

I thought about Love as well...but now I don't see CLE trading him...I see a way for Horford to sign here in Boston.

I think the deal is Noel and next years #1 for #3 and and small asset. The separation is DA is going to hold out for next years #1 to be unprotected.

if there's a hold out its because ainge doesn't want to pull the trigger on anything early.  Teams get hysterical in the excitement of the draft.  Ainge probably hopes he gets one of his guys like Hayward or butler instead.   I assume trading 3 for Okafor/Noel is plan B.

Tired of hearing  Noel has no offense outside of 8-10 feet....neither did Bill Russell...not saying Noel is Bill Russell, but he gives the C's what they need

I can see him making a leap to being a 2.5 bpg and 2.5 spg player, though, with somewhere between 9 and 11 rpg. There's more than one way to be special. Expect a unique kind of excellence from Noel, a mix of statlines and non-statistical contributions unlike any other player in the league.

I want to start a premature Welcome (Back) to Boston, Nerlens! thread in the speculation subforum. I would be so, so happy if he's a Celtic by tonight. Even more excited when we extend him to a new-CBA fair market deal. Even more excited if we get extra value in addition to Noel.

Just listening to the radio; Pelicans, T-wolves, and Sixers are all heavy on #3.

There is a difference between Noel and Okafor we have covered several times in previous threads; this is Noel's final year of his rookie contract, whereas Okafor still has three years.

If Embiid is as healthy as Philly wants us to believe, it makes sense for them to prefer trading Noel over Okafor.

Good lord, do it Danny! 16 (and a second or two, why not) for Love. Medium risk, high reward.

Get Denver in on this deal

Celtics get Noel and #7
Sixers get #3 and #23
Nuggets get Okafor

win, win ,win

With Jokic & Nurkic, they definitely say no

So do the Sixers giving up Jah and Noel for 3 and 23.

I'd draft Dunn and send either Smart or Bradley with 16 for Noel.

Otherwise 3 for Noel and Philly 2017. Has me thinking but it's not a home run.

Tell them to throw in Saric along with Noel or Okafor.

Otherwise, no deal.

Would they be stupid enough throw in their top 3 protected Lakers pick or unprotected Kings pick? Not that the Celtics need more picks considering Brooklyn will be awful again next season, but Danny clearly wants more than just Noel.
