Wow. In that thread about "What team will surprise people next year?" I wanted to say Indiana but their PG (Point Guard, not Paul George) situation was just so dreadful. Adding Teague is absolutely huge. PG, Monta, Teague, and Myles Turner with a year under his belt is great.

If #12 gets you Teague, then the market value of #3 is looking quite good!

Start of a rebuild in Hot-lanta?

Or is 12 used in another deal?

A lot depends on Horford's decision.

If he blasts, I can see them trading off Milsap/Korver/etc and going young with Schroeder.

Although, if Horford leaves, DHoward could well want to play at home.

If that were to happen I'd rather have Milsap than Horford.

Guys, remember that Teague's contract expires at the end of this year and he'll be a UFA. That depresses his value a bit.

With that said Avery Bradley's play, age and contract makes him worth a late lotto pick as well.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

Utah trading the 12th pick for George Hill is.... sure a move....

Why didn't Utah just trade directly with Atl for Teague?

On another note, Teague for the 12th is great value even if it's Indy that got the value. Hopefully Danny is seeing this and is pushing for more  from Philly than Okafor (and especially more than Noel!) in a trade for #3.

They probably gauged Teague's interest in re-signing and decided they'd be safer with Hill. Remember, Teague's actually from Indianapolis.

Utah trading the 12th pick for George Hill is.... sure a move....

They don't need another project. All they were going to get with that pick was another backup. They're trying to make the playoffs next year.

It'll all be worth it when they lose in the first round.

They should take on all projects if that means they have potential.  They aren't a good enough team.  Not even close.

Making it to the first round is a hell of a lot better than what they've done the past three seasons.

Oh, no, they missed out on the chance to draft another guy like George Hill or Jeff Teague in favor of just acquiring that guy right now. How ever will they cope with missing out on what would more than likely top out as a role player?

Enjoy the useless first round exit.

1) Jeff Teague is a lot better than Hill but you are lumping them together.

2) Give me a risky guy with potential at 12 over George Hill, who is only getting worse and is average at best anyways.  This draft is actually very flat past the first few picks.  There is great value to be had at 12.  Give me Sabonis over George Hill any day of the week.

That's nice for you. Utah doesn't agree. They have enough "guys with potential." They can use some actual solid veterans, especially considering they were literally a tiebreaker away in an injury-hit season from making the playoffs (but yeah, they're "not even close.")

And they'll definitely enjoy the useless first round exit as much as Charlotte, Boston, New Orleans, and other bubble teams have in recent years. Not like they're giving up much of anything. Whoopty doo, they miss out on the chance to draft a role player in a shallow draft. They'll live.

I think they'll try to package #12 and #21 to move up, and maybe get Poeltl or someone else that drops.  I could see the Raptors trading down 3 spots and picking up a first if the BPA is Poeltl
I'm bitter.

LOL.... dude... I know the franchise will keep existing.... what are you even talking about?  They're just going to be getting worse and never make it over the hump.

I said "not even close" to doing anything of meaning.  Still the case.  You are way overrating George Hill or love mediocrity (and actually below mediocrity).

Trading the #12 pick for a veteran point guard when it's pretty known that:

a) you needed point guard help
b) you weren't really interested in actually drafting another rookie

makes all the sense in the world. You keep talking in absolutes as though they're making some huge investment. Dude, they gave up a late lottery pick in a shallow draft for a guy with an expiring contract. This isn't making them worse. This isn't supposed to help them "make it over the hump." It's supposed to help them make the playoffs. They're not in a championship or bust mentality. They haven't even made the playoffs in four years. It's a stopgap move that you're actually like could potentially bankrupt the team for years. If Hill doesn't work out, guess what? All they did was trade away the 12th pick in a weak draft for him. That's it.

Is Dante Exum moving to shooting guard?

He's not done anything in the league yet and missed the entire last season. He's moving to backup guard. No reason to rush him into being the starting point.

If this trade plus Horford leaving leads to Millsap being dealt I wonder what it would cost Boston.

Millsap would look great in green.

exactly what I was thinking.... #3 has to get you an all-star or would be allstar in okafor and another player
