We (or at least I) don't want him here. Locker Room Poison, sez I, and on the downside at that.

If he was 24, even 27, I might take the chance. Not now. Let 'im go ruin yet another team...

Upgrades the position. Upgrades the team. Most importantly, upgrades that 48 win column.

He fits and one would have to believe Ainge is interested. I believe Ainge thinks he can change every negative you've listed, and make it a net positive in this organization. I wouldn't doubt him.

Howard would take a top 10 defense in the NBA and make us the top defense in the NBA. He would also immediately becomes our best roll man and post player.

I'm guessing the Celtics will be priced out of this one.

They're not going to go and blow a ton of cap room on a wrong side of 30 Dwight Howard.  Plus, you can almost guarantee some team is going to overspend for him.

Howard clearly takes care of his body. In the past, we've seen big men who take care of themselves end up with some of their best performances in their early/mid 30s. For example, Karl Malone.

I am willing to gamble on Howard. It's risky, but no risk, no reward.

I use to not want this guy but Starting to think that Kobe and Harden might not have been the easiest to play with..

For the Right price I think he could help us in the middle.. Proven Rebounder, Proven Defender, Proven Roll to the basket finisher..

I'm getting frustrated enough with what appears more and more like a missed opportunity to enter the Eastern Conference Finals conversation next year that I would certainly consider Howard. Perhaps, combine that signing with using our draft assets to bring Hayward here to create a nice small ball lineup of:

Howard

Crowder

Hayward

Thomas

Bradley

We get both good offense and defense plus probably move to number 2 seed in the East which to me is the next logical and realistic step to take.

whatever you think of Dwight, I think it's safe to say he will age well.

A guy like bogut, with great passing instincts is who we need. AJ hammons?

I would love Howard here for the right price, i.e. not a max contract or anything like that.  The only question I have is how he would handle playing in Boston with the media coverage and the intense fandom.  Now, with the Celtics the media isn't nearly as bad as it is with the Red Sox or even the Bruins so maybe it won't be a problem.

For the money & years I'm guessing that it'll cost to get him, I'll pass.  Also, back issues seem to be nagging & never go away.

I still think we're going to have a Philly 5 in here, and I prefer either of them to adding the Clown and his overinflated salary.

Hard pass on Howard. He's already on the decline at age 30 and he's got a game that's low on skill and high on athleticism which means he's not going to age very well going forward. Even if he had a better locker room reputation I wouldn't be interested in spending the kind of money it's going to take to get him but knowing what his reputation actually is, I don't want him anywhere near this team.
