- Just listened to Ford on ESPN radio. Says Dunn's the guy teams want now. Also he thinks Cs and Sixers will compromise under the gun and Sixers will kick something along with Okafor in to make a deal work for the #3. Just his hunch, but it's tough to see how Sixers don't try to get a deal done.  Let Dunn slip away and still stuck with 3 centers? Have to think Covington would be the target for DA if he's open to Oka4 anyhow? Ford senses that Skal Labissiere may slide - looks good playing against chairs and disappears otherwise. Also thinks foreign players will rise in this draft.

- Then listened to a podcast of Bilas from yesterday and he's said Dunn's the BPA after the top 2.

- Bulpett posted the following 3 hours ago. As most here would expect, Trader Danny doing his utmost.

Quote
Celts trying very hard to make major deals, apparently well prepared. Source says they have quick comebacks when different scenarios raised.

- Bobby Marks saying teams are going to hold on to stars signed cheaply under the old TV contract. (IOW, slow market for trades as DA is finding out).

Quote
Consensus among teams is that players signed under the old TV $ will be hard to pry away. Contract has high value with the new cap spike.

I still think he's more interested in Noel than Okafor. But, yeah, adding a Covington piece would be nice. I wonder if we could add to the third pick to make them give up Saric instead of someone like Covington. If we're assuming that Okafor/Noel is not enough for #3 in itself, would adding something like Young or Rozier get them to toss Saric's rights in the deal? A Rozier/Dunn backcourt would be pretty interesting.

Not wild about Covington (doesn't move the needle at all IMO), but I'd love Danny to pick up Saric, Pilly's or LAL 2017 1st, or the Kings 2018 1st.

Per source,Sixers still talking to Celtics, but potential trade as of this moment is "bleak", as BOS is speaking to several teams about #3.

Buddy Hield on Celtics at No. 3: “Why not me? They need a shooter.”

Watching Around the Horn now, and they just talked about the Cs and Bill Plaschke's predicting that's who Ainge is gonna take.  He's hearing that Hield is looking fantastic in all of his workouts and that he's moving up the draft fast and he'll go a lot higher than people think.

Final offer to Philly if they really want to draft Dunn so bad.

#3, #35, #45, #51, James Young

OKafor, Saric, #24

This is the kind of overpay we should hope for, considering Philly has overplayed their hand. Either way though, they still have the option of getting #4 from Phoenix (if we were to draft Dunn), to draft Murray, who a week ago, they were rumored to be "considering" at #1.

We have leverage, but it's only true leverage if Dunn is their absolute must have player besides Simmons.

The Sixers know the league undervalues Okafor, to the tune of 80 cents on the dollar. Saric was a big name before they stashed him. So if we can underplay the both of them, AND also manage to pry #24, I think that is a worthy compensation.

Then we try to package #16/23/24/31 to try to get hopefully to #10-12, and maybe a guy like Hield (doubtful) or Bender falls that far. Or we simply are in range for Poeltl/Ellenson/Skal/Davis. I doubt any of those guys make it to #16, but stranger things can happen. A lot of solid wing/2-guard prospects who could get drafted higher than expected.

Either way, if Philly doesn't budge, I say let them deal with their logjam and then fleece them before the trade deadline.

You send all our picks for Okafor/Noel and Saric and call it a draft. Immediately addresses our frontcourt needs.

Not a bad idea

#3, #16, #23, #31 and BKN 2018

for

Okafor/Noel/Saric

All of a sudden, our roster is filled out quite nicely, almost to the point where a guy like KD (or an FA next year) see's that we are serious about making a run. It's a good look. Question is, would Philly do that?

Yeah doubt they would do both Okafor/Noel and Saric, but I think a combination of Okafor and Saric would be pretty potent. With the selections of Simons it would make Saric redundant because they play a similar role and have a similar playing style with Simmons being an elite athlete.

Seems like a revolving door move for Philly of drafting players just to trade them for... more draft picks.  Don't like the move for Philly nor the C's.

I'd prefer not to surrender four 1st rounders for two highly flawed players and an unproven player in Saric.  Can't play Noel and Okafor together.  Not interested in Okafor either, since I don't care for bigs who can't play defense nor rebound.  I'd be interested in a smaller move for Noel for the right price.
