No One (Except Philly) Wants to Trade With Danny

Recent events have really got me depressed, Simmons is going to Philly the tankers and even according to Chad Ford who wasn't his biggest fan is extremely impressed with him. Now it seems as though it is going to be a very bare offseason as no one wants to give up even a semi-star for our pick, I am a huge Ainge guy but it seems our strategy isn't working as the NBA is moving towards drafting your superstar as the only way of getting one. I would say that we are in the 1/5 of the league that doesn't have a 'foundation guy'. We have enough to be competitive but in our current shape I can't see us ever getting close to contending.

Cmon dude. Don't lose hope. We will draft our own foundation player. Then make a lowball offer for Love and suddenly we are a contender.

Depending upon how much Philly would give up with Noel and the availability of someone like Love, I wonder if trading down within the top-8 makes the most sense now, though I guess we could always still pair Noel with someone like Horford, who can still spread the floor for a big.

I'd still engage Sacramento with a 3 for WCS and 8 trade, because they very well might like Dunn more than they like WCS.

Or maybe we could even pry Danilo from Denver in a move-down move. He'd be a good fit at the 4 for us, too. Amir and 3 for Danilo and 7?

If Minny is serious about getting Butler, I wonder if they'd offer up Wiggins. Crowder and 3 for Wiggins? That's a lot, but it's what it would take to get Wiggins. Minny would then have two top-5 picks to trade for Butler, Crowder and Butler would make up the 2-3 for them.

You'd probably have to add something like Rozier to the deal, but I'd definitely do it.

I think if you're Danny you have to trade the #3 pick for something and if Okafor and Noel are the only two being offered then you take one of them. I mean if we are actually serious about going after Kevin Durant then we need to some make some moves. At least if we get Okafor or Noel then we know what we are getting, Noel is 10 point 10 rebound guy and Okafor is a guy who can probably score 15-20 a game. If you get one of these guys then Durant can say "Ok they got Okafor/Noel, He can play". I just don't see Kevin Durant getting excited about an unproven rookie like Dunn or Brown. I say we trade the #3 for Noel/ Okafor and #24 and then trade #16,#23,#24 to move up to like #12-13 and draft someone who falls.

I'd much rather have Okafor then Noel.

Nerlens has almost zero Basketball skills...Okafor is lethal in the paint on offense at least....We can find another defender, but Okafor is 20 and might be the best low-post player in the league.

Noel has no basketball skills except for rebounding, interior help defense, perimeter help defense, dribbling, passing.

We didn't have the #3 pick in the draft last year though. Future picks are harder to gauge, but after landing the #3, it has clearly defined value, AND it raises the value of the rest of the Nets picks. Bradley also made all defensive 1st team and his contract looks great coming into this offseason. We are in a great position.

Whatever, at this point I'm starting to not care.  We are what we are and always will be.  A decent team that plays really hard and exits early in the playoffs until we decide to blow it up and try again.

Overpay for a star if you can (which we can't) and if not, draft Dunn and see if Philly will deal Embiid for him (they won't.  but again, at this point, who cares).  After which we sit Dunn for 5 years to punish him for not being better for us to get someone of worth for him.

Still not sure why Noel is even being mentioned in a trade for the #3. I realize he is a very good defensive center, but there seem to be other options out there that would be significantly 'cheaper' (in terms of what we need to give up) than Noel. The fact that he is going to make a LOT of money next year makes me much more apt to sign Biyombo to big money than trade the #3 for him.

I am with JPotter on the trade down options, too. WCS and #8 or Gallinari and #7 are much much better options even if we are adding additional assets.

After watching more of Okafor, he looks far far superior to Noel in terms of potential. I will be pretty bummed if after all of this we trade for one year of freakin' Nerlens Noel.
