I think it's hilarious. Literally every major trade the Celtics have made in Ainge's time has had little to no "official" reporting on, or rumors of, before they happen. Rondo to the Mavs, KG/Paul to Brooklyn, the Olynyk trade-up, the Ray Allen/KG trade.
Yet, everyone here reacts to these articles as if they're gospel. History tells us otherwise. Take it all with a grain of salt. We won't know what's really going on until Friday morning.
TP.
I'm constantly amused by the tendency of CB to overreact to every single thing anyone mentions in the media. The Chicken Littles around here always want to take the news, spin it in the worst way possible and then try to hold that up as proof that the Celtics are doooooomed. Meanwhile, the team is doing well.
Here's the real kicker -
none of these trades ever get made until draft night because just in case player "X" falls, the team that holds the pick wants to be able to get out of the deal if they want that player. So we're not likely going to see a deal made yesterday or today and thus all of these rumors are pure speculation and posturing. Here's how these things are started:
(1) A few of them leaked by GMs trying to improve their leverage before the actual deal goes down
(2) The rest pure speculation made up by media members who know that if they predict a scenario and it happens they'll be able to crow about "scooping" everyone for years while conveniently ignoring the other 10,000 predictions they made that never happened.
Get a grip, people.
