If the rumors are true, Philly is willing to give up Okafor or Noel for #3.

I expect to see us trade #3 for Okafor.  Only hold-up is that we'd prefer to move the pick for an established star or a solid established shooter like Middleton.  That, and we need to first see if Simmons or Ingram falls.

Otherwise, get hyped.

Legit possibility.

Barring no other substantial changes, how much better do you think Okafor makes us next year?
Dunno.  It'll be fun to see how it all works out.

It will decidedly not be fun to watch these two play together.

I'd rather keep the pick and pick Jaylen Brown but if its #3 for Okafor then so be it. If that's what it is then at least we get to keep Bradley and Crowder. I don't see why Danny shouldn't go hard for Ryan Anderson, Chandler Parsons, Al Horford in FA. If we get two of those guys this team is a legit ECF contender. I still say Lebron goes to LA leaving the East wide open

Possible starting rotation

Isaiah Thomas PG
Ryan Anderson SF
Al Horford PF
Jahlil Okafor C
Avery Bradley SG

Bench

Crowder
Smart
Dudley
Olynyk
Rozier
Young

Count me in there too.  If it's Okafor I'm good with that too. Although I'd still like DA to just make the pick and Brown or Bender in ways.  Maybe he has something else up his sleeve.  I like Noel too that's the thing.  Doesn't sound like we have enough to get a guy like Butler here.

24 hours. Not sure why Ainge is chasing after Middleton.  I'd prefer Okafor over him I think.  Not that Middleton is a bad pick. I can understand Jabari over him though.

We do need to get rid of some of these extra picks somehow.  If we could get a couple guys vs 8 that would be nice.  A lot of this stuff to me it's like why though.

DA tried to onload a bunch of picks for Winslow.  He could have done that earlier for someone else.  I'd like get Okafor and Saric for our treasure trove but from philly's perspective it's like why have those picks too.  They would need time to unload them.  We are somewhat screwed that way. Probably going to have to stash a bunch of guys if Ainge can't get something done.

I like the Okafor and Isaiah combo and him as a person too.  Maybe not as much as Brown or Bender but it's debatable.   I hope we can squeaze  something else out of this trade.

Jhalil for the 3 to me is a really nice trade.  That's a team I can really root for too.  1 day and tired of trying to figure it all out. Only so much I know from over here.  Get it done Danny.  Stop the madness. I think Jhalil is one of the nice guys in the nba too.

Pair him with Boogie and we are really onto something.

For some reason I think Danny is thinking too much here himself.  Okafor is the right move.

I'm so excited for the Celtics to pass on the two best scorers in this draft because we, "already have too many guards."

Apparently it has been offered alot by philly. It's just okafor isn't worth the 3 alone in today's modern nba. Okafor and Saric and I'm jumping for joy with that haul. Or Okafor for the 16 and bradley and other picks as was discussed the other day, and you pick bender with the 3. Okafor and Bender compliment each other very well.

Bill Simmons tweeted about this that it won't happen because Philly have a logjam of forwards and very few are interested in Okafor, thus we are giving up too much in this deal, we have the leverage not them.

I don't mind taking Dunn if we move another of our guards. I think he could very well end up as one of the best players from this class.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

the rose colored glasses around these parts never cease to amaze me.

Ok.  we'll see. as always.

But it's been 2 years of me fighting uphill battles around here trying to bring rationality and reality to these boards, and sadly, I've been right more often than not in the end.  The idea people didn't expect the Nets to be awful this season at this point last year though is just incorrect.  It was generally assumed they'd be one of the worst in the league.  I'll agree it wasn't a lock they'd be conveying a top 3 pick, but that's fine.

I'll just be over here being willfully, ignorantly correct about the majority of my predictions as always.

what's up with this forum, and why are people never wrong?

It's quite a feat
I trust Danny Ainge

Too bad the Bulls can't be reasoned with.

Oh well, then we just pick 3rd and call it a day.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I think it's hilarious. Literally every major trade the Celtics have made in Ainge's time has had little to no "official" reporting on, or rumors of, before they happen. Rondo to the Mavs, KG/Paul to Brooklyn, the Olynyk trade-up, the Ray Allen/KG trade.

Yet, everyone here reacts to these articles as if they're gospel. History tells us otherwise. Take it all with a grain of salt. We won't know what's really going on until Friday morning.

TP.

I'm constantly amused by the tendency of CB to overreact to every single thing anyone mentions in the media. The Chicken Littles around here always want to take the news, spin it in the worst way possible and then try to hold that up as proof that the Celtics are doooooomed. Meanwhile, the team is doing well.

Here's the real kicker - none of these trades ever get made until draft night because just in case player "X" falls, the team that holds the pick wants to be able to get out of the deal if they want that player. So we're not likely going to see a deal made yesterday or today and thus all of these rumors are pure speculation and posturing. Here's how these things are started:

(1) A few of them leaked by GMs trying to improve their leverage before the actual deal goes down

(2) The rest pure speculation made up by media members who know that if they predict a scenario and it happens they'll be able to crow about "scooping" everyone for years while conveniently ignoring the other 10,000 predictions they made that never happened.

Get a grip, people.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

With half of your 171 posts about how Thon Maker was going to be the #1 or #2 pick this year, maybe you need to seek some professional help with your delusions of grandeur.

I am not sure that team is an EC champ, even if LeBron leaves for LA (which he won't).

Danny wants "special players".  There's less than 5 in the league currently.
