I'm just asking because I'm not sure myself whether it's better to use #3 on Okafor/Noel or overpay with real dollars and cap space for one of Biyombo/Whiteside and overpay with draft assets for Middleton? This would give us a really nice small ball starting lineup which is the way the modern NBA seems to be trending. Of course, there is no guarantee that we can sign either center.

Biyombo/Whiteside
Crowder
Middleton
Bradley
Thomas

Some dumb GM is going to sign Whiteside to a max and be a 9th seed for the next 4 years. Whiteside is a good Center but he's not a transformative player.

If I'm getting scoring frontline help, I have zero issue taking Noel for the #3. None whatsoever.

If Noel is all I'm getting, and there are no other deals, different story.

Yeah, same here, though you should try hard to get Covington, too, who shouldn't be a deal breaker for them. He'd be a great, cheap backup 3 for us.

Agreed. Would not mind seeing him in the deal.

Two deals on twitter right now @StatisticsNBA with sources:

Okafor for #3

Middleton and Monroe for #3 and another player.

Who's the other player?

I like Philly deal better. That's over $30 million in salary for Monroe/Middleton. Too much.
Get Middleton alone for less. Use the #3 for Okafor or Noel.

I think Whiteside is defiantly a transformative player

As in, once he gets a max contract he'll transform into a much lazier and more disruptive player
I'm bitter.

The other player is anyone they want except Isiah Thomas. Monroe and Middleton would be a haul.

Amir Johnson and someone else I presume. They need to match or at least balance out the salaries a bit right?

Good lord, no thanks on Monroe + Middleton. We're going to spend $32M of our cap room on two guys the Bucks are trying to unload, for 1 year of Monroe, and give away our top-3 pick in the process? That's just awful. And we have to send back player(s)?

I can never make any sense of the salary matching and the weird cap rules of the NBA. From what little I understand, the salaries only have to match if the teams are close to/over the cap. When we had the big 3 are were up against the cap each year, salary matching was a must.

Someone who knows more than me is welcome to clear that up.

Yeah, that's a lot of cap space to spend on them. Would we just play small then around Monroe? IT, Bradley, Middleton, Crowder, and Monroe! We'd also have to send out quite a bit in salary, too.

Just checked salary. We'd have to send MORE THAN Amir, JJ, and AB to get it done. They're about 300,000 short. No thanks. I prefer Noel and Love/KO  ;)

Would a Middleton+Henson deal work?

Noel is probably the best rim protector in the game. I think Phily will sweeten the deal because they want dunn so bad. Maybe a 1st next year?

Monroe provides no interior defense so finding another big to pair with him is a real problem because he is also a traditional low post player. If you want both interior defense and proper floor spacing, you have to find a rim protector with outside shooting range. These guys don't grow on trees. Remember that Monroe/Drummond was a total fail. The alternative is to start Monroe with Crowder, Middleton, Bradley, and Thomas and count on superior perimeter defense and no interior defense.

I agree. I looked up the salaries and amended my post. Prefer Noel or Okafor for the #3.
Too much salary for both. Get Middleton another way, maybe. Not with #3.
