Great news as Dunn is one of the most sought after lottery picks not named Ingram or Simmons..
Even if the C's have no intention of drafting him we can threating to.

Prior to this announcement I doubt teams would have taken us seriously if we said we were interested, solely based on the amount of interest his camp set fourth to being drafted by Boston.

Talk is cheap. This is where guys try to alleviate any character issues leading up to the draft by saying and doing all the right things.  I don't blame him for wanting what is best for him but honestly, what happened to guys earning spots and minutes?

Every player should be honored to be drafted by the Celtics!

i have liked dunn as a basketball player for a while, but assumed he did not want boston.

if he is open to coming here, the celtics MIGHT pick him over bender. or, if ainge wants dunn, he might move down a few slots to get dunn and an asset.

this draft is really shaping up as an interesting one. and best of all, we probably get to do this all again next year!

He hasn't worked out for any teams, so you can't use that as evidence that he's lying.  Holding back the medical info is a bad sign, but I think that was more his agent, and I'd be willing to bet that Danny got the info anyway

He doesn't want to come to the C's, or at least his Agent has been putting it out there that he doesn't.

But in the end he loses nothing and gains something by saying nice things about every team/city that might pick him publicly. Plus you agent can maneuver all he wants, if Ainge decides he's the pick he's likely coming to Boston and will have to deal with it.

My guess is that the agent is telling Dunn to play nice in public, because in order for him to go as high as he can in the draft, teams need to believe the Celtics are an option.  If the Celtics would never draft him, then teams are less likely to trade up to #3 to get him, because he could be acquired lower.  If the Celtics might actually draft him anyway, then teams who want him can't wait the extra spot or two.  The difference between #3 and #5 is $3.9 million over four years of a rookie deal -- that's a lot of money to pass up because you're worried about playing time in your rookie year.  Definitely makes sense to at least pretend you aren't bothered by it.

Exactly. As I suggested in another thread, agents play a big role in player movement and influence trades. Ainge has done a great job since day 1 of dealing with agents and basically doing favors for them to get favors down the road. If he wants to move #3 for a specific player, like Butler, and the Bulls need to be convinced that Dunn would be off the board by the 5th or 6th pick, then getting Dunn to publicly state he would love to play for Boston, together with Ainge threatening to draft Dunn at #3, would get the job 'Dunn'


Dunn gets drafted higher, Butler goes to a team he likes, their agents make more money, everyone is happy.

a player gets the salary marked for that draft slot. if someone is drafted #3, that is what they get regardless of trades.
