FWIW: I don't have ESPN as part of my standard TV package from Directv. I do have CSNNE.
Over a month ago CSN started advertising their upcoming coverage of the NBA draft preceded by a special on the 86 Celtics. With so much anticipation you know they will have their staff fully committed to this day.
Unfortunately, they won't be covering the event live. ESPN has the television rights. Maybe they'll let CSN have recorded video take-aways when the Celtics select. This is what appeared to happen during the NBA lottery. There was very little actual footage of the event itself. Don't feel I missed much as the CSN coverage was fairly entertaining and there really wasn't a whole lot that I wanted to see except for the results.
The NBA draft appears to be another ball game in comparison. There should be a lot more drama with so much at stake for the Celtics. Plus, the numerous draft choices adds to the intrigue.
I'm planning on adding ESPN for the next week or so for two reasons. One, to see the rest of the OJ documentary (continues tomorrow) and secondly to catch the lottery in real time. Maybe I'll switch back and forth between the networks and/or DVR them. Not sure if it's worth the extra dough. If it weren't for the OJ special I'd probably rethink this idea.
Anyone thinking of doing the same? Or, is CSN coverage good enough or better because of the local slant?
