Maybe in the sense of a strong, bullish athlete with a poor jumpshot and a tendency to vacillate between single minded drives and passive off ball play.

That just about sums it up well Pho, I agree. If Jaylen Brown is our version of Lebron, then we are in for a very long championship drought.

Shouldn't put Brown and Lebron in the same sentence. Not fair to Brown.

Risky pick at 3. Other than being a great athlete doesn't do anything really well. Not sold on Bender either. I'd take Murray at 3(lowest risk), or look to trade the pick.

Only thing I compared Brown to Lebron was body type (height-weight) and the ability to be bullish down low. In no way did I compare their game. Who knows where Browns game ends up. He could be great or he could be just a defensive blocker and inside the paint scorer. But one thing you have to admit is we do need a big physical bully in the paint. I like Jaylen Brown and I think if he can get that mid range shot to fall he's gonna be a beast. But hey, everyone's got their opinions n I can see a lot like to bash others opinions here a lot like they know everything.

The thing about Brown is that everybody assumes that because he's a great athlete with good size+length, he'll automatically be a great NBA defender. Hence the comparisons to Iggy, Kawhi, TA, even Lebron. This is far from guaranteed. Plenty of great athletes never become better than average defenders (see: Green, Jeff), and Brown has not done anything defensively that shows unusual aptitude over and above his physical tools.

I don't have a great sense of how good Brown will be on D, but that is probably where most of his potential values, and if we're taking him #3 it's because Ainge feels he has a good chance of becoming an elite defender. Right now I don't see it.

Yea, TP. I can't figure out where the myth of Jaylen Brown's defense started.

He is like LeBron in the same sense that James Young is Paul Pierce.

The way these young athletes are being compared to players as such, seems as if none of these guys will be any good at all coming out of the draft. I don't listen to all that. Some wanna say Brown will only be the equivalent of a James Young. We haven't even seen Young fully developed yet. Gotta give two or three years these guys coming out are only 19-20 years old. They are not gonna be all stars as soon as they get on the floor. I don't even see Ben Simmons doing much his first year. Look, Jaylen Brown should turn out to be a fine basketball player and I'm not gonna compare his game to anyone's simply because he hasn't played a minute of NBA basketball yet. I was just comparing his body structure to Lebrons and that's not all that far off. His game is not comparable they are two different players. But I do like Browns toughness and his ability to get to the rim. He's got no outside shot as I stated. He would have to put the work in to become more of a balanced offensive threat. But that doesn't mean the kid will suck. Give him time to develop the NBA game.

Says the guy that said Brown is out version of Lebron.

If you make that statement, people are going to take it an run.  Lebron was a generational talent identified since his sophomore year of high school.  Take the last 15 years of drafts and Lebron probably goes #1; and I don't mean in retrospect, based on his NBA success.  I mean, as a talent coming out of high school.  Brown should probably go somewhere between 3-8 in THIS draft.

Physical similarities aside, the talent disparity is night and day.

LOL.  He's not even close to Lebron, get out of here!

To me Jaylen Brown appears to be a Jeff Green who can't shoot.

So, I guess that's not bad, but that's not exactly the impact player I'm looking for either.

He's nowhere near close to Lebron defensively, and he's nowhere near close to Green offensively.

What he does have going for him is athleticism, although his vertical jump was never tested and we haven't had him in for one on one drills yet.  If he can score on Jae Crowder, then I'd give him a look, but I honestly think he'd get shut down.

wow, I like Brown but I wouldn't even go there lol

I'd still like to draft him though, I would like a big wing who can slash, he's explosive and strong, and hopefully has good work ethics to improve his shot. I don't think it's broken and I think he can fix it

Going to be sorry to see this draft come and go.

The hyperbole about it on this board has been very entertaining, with this thread just the latest example.

Next up: Dragen Bender, our version of Bill Russell.

Brown actually would be our version of Jimmy Butler more than Lebron

Lebron is a 4-3-2 all in one

Brown is more of a 3-2.  Cant say he looks like a pf , plays like one, rebounds like one.   But eventually could haul down 7rpg.
