At 6'7 225 lbs Jaylen Brown has a build comparable to Lebron James 6'8 254 lbs coming into the league. However, Brown has that tank-like body that James possesses. Its rare to find a 19 year old who has an NBA ready body that will allow him to play in the paint with NBA big men.

Its difficult to find a shooting guard in the league who can play bully ball down low on defense, let alone one at his age. He's never been a player you can push around down low, however, he's a nightmare to be gaurded by on the perimeter because of his athleticism.

You can make the argument that Jaylen Brown is the most athletic player in the draft, and that's an area where the Celtics are lacking. They don't have a high flyer on their offense to finish alley-oops or make rundown blocks. While it has helped Brown on defense, his offense is what catches most teams eyes.

No, he's not the three point threat that Boston would like to add this off-season, although he's a scorer who can play the shooting guard or the small forward position. It would add a new dynamic to a team who relies heavily on catch and shoot plays or Isaiah Thomas creating something for himself.

Brown managed to average 16.4 points per game as a freshman, and shot 48.2 percent from inside the arc. He thrives on getting to the basket and creating easy shots or going to the line. He's athletic enough to get by defenders but also strong enough to body them down low and act as a post player. His determination to get to the paint led him to attempting 6.4 free throws per game.

Problem is he only shot 65.4 percent from the line and 29.4 percent from the three. Brown will have to work on his outside game if he wants to be an elite scorer in the NBA. Brown may never develop to be a great 3 point shooter but he has to develop his mid-range game. When it comes down to it, Brown has the chance to become an elite scorer in the NBA. There's no doubt he will have growing pains as a rookie, but, once his outside shot starts to fall, he'll be nearly impossible to stop.

I vacillate between Brown and Bender. I think Aige is going to pick Brown. For the reasons you stated.

I'm in the same boat and anticipate the same outcome.

If brown goes at 3 I hope Ainge will shoot for the moon and grab a high ceiling big like Deytona Davis, Skal, or Thon Maker with the later picks.

If it's bender I hope he nabs a solid 3D wing later in the draft.

I also see him as an Ainge guy. Personally I prefer Bender. I see him being closer to another Jeff Green than Lebron. Lebron even in high school showed an IQ and vision that you could tell was going to be transcendant when coupled with his athleticism. All I saw from Brown last year was an athletic guy who doesn't really know how to play. That said, it could be similar to Avery where the system was a bad fit for his talent and he was much better than what he showed.

I'll also add that he's physically similar to Winslow, but has not shown anywhere near the same level of basketball IQ

Jaylen Brown makes the most sense if we actually keep the pick. Bender is to unknown and to much of a risk. Jaylen still has a lot to work on but his in the paint post play is more valuable if he gets that outside shot to form then Bender who seems frail and I'm just gonna guess he's gonna be injury prone. I'd much rather pick Brown for his toughness in the low. Jaylen won't get bullied around like Dragan will.

IMO, Bender has a higher floor than Brown. All the scouting reports indicate that he has the requisite skills and athleticism to excel. Only thing lacking is strength. I feel much more confident that he can bulk up/ get stronger vs Brown increasing his basketball IQ and shooting ability

Let's draft someone who can shoot. You saw in the playoffs our slashers couldn't score because the shooters were not respected enough to give them the space they need. Brown is the worst fit.

This is exactly what I have been thinking.
Worst case...Tony Allen.
Best case....Lebron James.

Imagine a small ball line up :
- IT
- AB
- Brown
- Crowder
- KO
2 beast crashing in the paint and 3 guys on the perimeter waiting to throw some daggers.
Transition play would be fun as well.

I think he's going to be a very good pro.

He can be a strong Gordon Hayward.

He'll be great in transition and a very good defender.

No problem.

He is exactly like LeBron.

If that's his floor and ceiling he goes #1.  I think his floor is more like Kendrick Brown, who had similar athleticism but couldn't play basketball.

I didn't watch him play at all this year, but I can for sure those floor/ceiling estimates are laughable.  If his ceiling was Lebron we'd  be getting ready to draft Simmons or Ingram in the 3 spot.

TP, I'd say his floor is Kedrick Brown & ceiling a more consistent Jeff Green
