Still not good considering the competition

It's only one particular celtcsblog poster who keeps ignoring it.

Actually, there are several of us, who think that stats matter.   Some of us have seen many years and we seen a lot of projected greatness fall short.

This is what a 17 with a lot of potential looks like

heck even Tyler Hansborough average 28 PPG and 14 RPG in high school

Plenty of 17 years can ball it up and beat up older men.

Not all the scouts like Bender blindly, most of them do not want to look like a fool if he pans out.   Some of the draft guys even edit their drafts afterwards like Chad Ford.

Bender on the hype

Quote
"I actually don't see (NBA scouts) in the crowd of people," he said after game. "I just focus on the game and come trying to learn new things every night from my coach and teammates."

Yep, trying to lean because he is not getting meaningful PT.

Potential can be great sometimes, a lot of times it can bite you in the you know where too.

Forgive, me if I want more than Darko II for PP and KG.
I am trying to figure out whether you're serious?

You showing me LeBron's high school stats as evidence?  What do you think Bender would be doing against high school competition (which by the way he would be completing this year)?  And even still, so he isn't Lebron.  Guess what?  Nobody is.

As for his bust potential, no one is ignoring that possibility (any time you select someone so young).  But this writer is an idiot.  He talks about sample sizes and which you trust (12 or 56 shots).  Um, how about 56 shots?  He brings up potential for injury.  Um, what?  Anyone can get injured.  Has bender shown that he gets injured?  And then he talks about rebounding but then says, it may not be a big deal.

Who is this guy?

These are Nikoloz Tskitishvili stats in the NBA:

These are Dragan Bender's per 36 stats.

PPG 6.3
RPG 5
BLK   2.1

I choose PER 36 because it shows just how bad he is folks.
Ha, ha, ha...you are a very funny man.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

The kid keeps the whole process interesting that's for sure. It sounds like they believe he can defend well against quick players and pick and rolls. The draft can't come quick enough at this point!

Could he be the next Darko? Could he be the next Dirk? Yes and yes, but in all likelihood he will fall somewhere in-between. Yes, the potential for being a bust is there, but so is the potential of being an all-star. Mediocrity is possible, too. And trust me, nobody knows for certain right now which way he will pan out.

My preference is to trade the pick in a deal that will nab a proven NBA big man because I think that is our best chance of improving to enough of a degree to potentially compete in the ECF next year. If no deals arise, I say we gotta take Bender or move down for Poeltl and additional future picks (or a decent, reliable vet). They are the ones most likely to improve our team in the short-term and long-term. Alas, there are no guarantees in the crapshoot known as the NBA draft...
