I'd take Durant and the water boy. Not sure what Howards deal is these days but I'll take him in this scenario.

We are not getting Durant

If I am Durant, I am still upset about OKC letting Harden go for cap reasons. I am also concerned about competition in the west and Westbrook leaving for LA next year. Why not form a superteam with Howard and IT in Boston, a franchise with a rich history that is willing to spend the luxury tax to win? Why not head east to dethrone the vulnerable King James, and cement your legend in NBA lore?

Because a supporting cast of Howard and IT may not be enough for Durant.

I support trying to sign KD but its just not happening. Howard is useless. I've been telling you guys to stop getting your hopes up for this summer. You are letting the media get the best of you. And when nothing extreme happens this summer other then drafting two prospects and sign a few of our own restricted free agents like Sully and Turner, y'all are setting your selves up big for dissapointment. I'm really just looking out for u guys. I don't wanna see y'all praise Danny for all our options then go for his head when he doesn't do much but put basically the same team on the court next year because you guys let the media feed you fake fantasies all month. If it happens then that's great but if it doesn't I'm not gonna be the one calling for Danny's head cause he's not the one saying anything about Butler, Horford or Durant. 👍

Durant would be perfect for the Celtics, and he would thrive.

Howard is a very fine player, but he doesn't look like a fit - well, a team and a player always have to fit to each other, but in his case the team has got to do a lot.

I think that the biggest issue is not so much his weaknesses (FT shooting comes to mind, and turnovers, and the big salary cap hit...) as how he wants to play.  He's been pretty explicit about wanting the ball more, and he's been openly dissatisfied about not getting it.  He expressed his disappointment to the media about his meeting with Morey on this, which is maybe the point of no return, literally...

If he would accept a DeAndre Jordan-type role, it could perhaps be made to work.

  • That's turrible
I think Dwight means well and is a really good player. He just doesn't have the "winning" mentality that you NEED to have in a place like Boston. Boston is all about winning championships. When you play there, you better bust your a** for that city. He'd get eaten alive by the city and the players there.

Dwight should go to the Hawks. Better fit for him especially if they let Al Horford walk.

Right. You could package anybody with Durant and I'd be thrilled.

It's legitimately in play.  It might not be likely, but it's a real possibility.  If he doesn't take a meeting with Boston this Summer, I'll be shocked.  Everyone assumes he'll just re-sign with OKC, but I don't see why he'd do that.  THey had a losing record without him over the past two seasons.  It's not a great team.  Durant just carries them.  They missed the playoffs last year in spite of Durant playing 1/3rd of their games.  That, and Westbrook might bail next Summer.   Sounds like Durant wants stability and I don't think OKC provides him that stability:  http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/242123/Kevin-Durant-May-Prefer-Stability-Over-Upside-Of-One-Plus-One-Contract

Makes more sense to join an organization like Boston that provides an easier path to the finals, can build a better team around him (and already might have a better supporting cast as-is), has an excellent GM and coach with long-term contracts and an organization that has proven they know how to build a champion.

He's gotta take the meeting.

You sure can. I would love for it to happen as well but I'm not gonna set myself up for disappointment when it doesn't happen. I don't wanna see people calling for Ainge head either because we all know its a far fetch to think we can possibly acquire Kevin Durant. Now that's not to say we won't have a player as good or better then Durant in the future. I think taking the long road benefits us more by building a young team in the draft. I want to build a championship roster for 10 years not build a dream team with a 3 year window. 21st and 22nd banners are on my mind not just #18.

One thing I do agree with you on is that I think Boston does have the best opportunity for stability for Durant. I think the owners would give him the keys to the city. They would build a team around him that will win the championship or get to the FINALS more often then not. I see what your saying. My only problem with this is how does Boston get the players he wants on the roster ? I would sure like to know who them players are just to see if we have a fighting chance to get them here for him. That's the million dollar question. Until I see Boston revealing Durant with a green jersey on ESPN I'm in doubt it will ever happen. I gotta stay skeptical on this until I see it.
