As reported by Shams Charania of The Vertical.

What does this mean for Al Horford?

I don't know about Horford but I think that would mean that Okafor is not an option to the Cs.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
So, Atlanta is going to rebuild now? I think that's the only reason they'd want to do this.

Nerlens isn't a building block, but he could be part of the next young core of players the Hawks would build towards.

Good for Philly if this happens. They get their PG.

That means IT is on his way to Atlanta to help him pack and move him up to Boston, but they're going to make a detour threw OKC with the moving van to grab Durants stuff. :P

Maybe, but they're clearing turning the reigns to Schroder. That said, if they're rebuilding, would they consider the #16 for Korver? Would we?

That'd be a great trade for the Celtics.  Such a move clearly would indicate Horford is gone, since you don't trade your starting PG for someone you see as a backup big, especially one who wants a big extension.  Furthermore, adding a player like Teague takes Philly out of cellar-dweller mode, which is good for the Nets pick.  I really hope this happens!

It looks like that would be the case. I think Schroder is ready. Still needs work with shooting, but he's ready to be a starting PG.

As for Korver, I don't know. Part of me tells that we should, the other says we can get a younger shooter somewhere else.

Not surprising at all. I mentioned in one of the Okafur for 3rd topics that Okafur for Teague made sense.

It's tough. On one hand, he's provides shooting and is on a cheap contract (5.2M) next season. On the other, he's already 35 and next year is the last year of his current deal.

This rumor has some logic to it.  Atlanta will build around Schroder and Noel vs. overpaying for Horford so they can run it back with Horford and Teague.

Schroder and Noel is not a bad start but will need to add to it.

Atlanta and Philadelphia are discussing a deal centered on a Jeff Teague and Nerlens Noel package, league sources tell The Vertical.

Sounds like there would be more moving parts to this. PHI trading Noel for a PG on an expiring contract seems like a pretty light return.

Noel will command big money next season as this is the final year on his rookie contract, so it's a moot point.

I agree with all of this. Not to mention hopefully this means they've chosen to keep Okafor.

Would be a good move for both sides. I think Teague is a good player.

I'm not sure they'd necessarily be looking to move off of Korver, at least not for a draft pick.  Teague for Noel is trading from an area of depth for an area of potential lack of depth of Horford leaves, but it definitely positions the team to remain competitive this season.  If they lose Horford but keep Bazemore, they continue to have a nice starting five of Schroder-Korver-Bazemore-Millsap-Noel, with a few decent backups and $20-25 million in cap space to fill our their roster.

That's of course if this deal happens.
