This draft class is just so deep through the 1st round that I have a hard time slotting Lavert in. I'm sure he can carve out a role in the NBA, and my favorite thing about him is the quick release on his jump shot. Still:
-He doesn't have any upside to be more than a shooting specialist who can defend his position and keep the ball moving on offense. It's nice that he can play some PG, but it's not like he's ever going to create at a high level off the dribble. He isn't a great athlete, his handle isn't advanced, and he isn't much of a shooter off the dribble.
-He carries significant injury risk, even if nothing pops up on his physical, so he doesn't make up for his low ceiling by being "safe."
Lavert will still get drafted, but probably not by the Celtics who won't want to spend a roster slot on him, and probably not in the first round.
