Don't know anything about this guys but [dang] if the OP wasn't right.  Shot up the draft board and is now slated at #3 on draft express.
holy cow!

I dont see it!

You cant be that terrible at rebounding and play the 4.

he would have to become a SF in my mind.

Still dont like him at 3.

This is completely premature. He's 18. He's played very limited basketball. He has yet to be coached by a Brad Stevens.

You don't draft a player like Chriss based on his existing skills. You draft him based on essential tools, and coach him. In Chriss' case, that's insane athleticism combined with solid shooting potential, which may allow him to blossom above and beyond a number of the role players who will be taken in the top 10.

And Jaylen Brown dropped to 7, after shooting up to 3 last week. Crazy.

Being a UW alum, I've watched him a lot this year and I'm "high" on him and all along I would have loved it if we somehow got him at 16 (or moved up to get him around 10, which is where I've expected him to go).

But even I am not sure how he suddenly rates #3 on DraftExpress' board.   Having watched him, and even though I'm a UW homer, I have to admit to some doubts about drive and 'intangibles'.

The physicals and the body control are real and legit and I have no doubt that those qualify him for an elite pick.  But he's still so raw and he still seems almost to space out at times in games, for whatever reason.

I'd be nervous about Danny taking him with the #3.  Very nervous.

DE's mock has been making some bizarre moves lately.  They'd had Bender at #3 forever and suddenly two weeks ago the jumped Jaylen Brown up into #3.  Now today, they suddenly jump Chriss into that spot and drop Brown back to #7????

In theory, they are responding to their perceptions of what the teams are going to do.  Are they responding to reports or rumors?  Is this smoke that Danny is putting out there?
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Upside, Upside, Upside.

Kid is 18. Incredible athlete, good shot, and will block shots from the PF position.

Whose to say he isn't the best out of this draft when its all said and done ?

This is what the scouts are paid for.  This is a swing for the fences type pick.

Ainge is the gambler, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he's announced at #3.

Since DraftExpress and the Vertical have kinda merged, I don't like their mocks. They seem like clickbait to me.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I understand that.

However, he is historically bad at rebounding. DX said the only rebounder in their data base who was worse was Thad Young who played the 3 in college.

If Chriss is the best prospect at 3 than I think that says more about the quality of the draft than it does Chriss.

My initial (and probably a bit lazy) comp would be Aaron Gordon. Great athletes, who are really raw. Now Gordon, coming out of college wasnt the shooter Chriss was, but had a pretty big edge in terms of defense and rebounding. I also dont remember reading any character/ work ethic concerns on Gordon.

Now with all that being said, at 3, if unable to trade we are in a nice position to take a project/risk pick. Chriss seems to fit that mold. So I suppose you could justify it. Again, I hope this jump is more about Chriss rising up boards than it is the supposed second tier not being that good.

umm so...

Anyone know why this dude just CATAPULTED up draft boards? I know he has talent, and COULD be a high upside guy... but he was like... 13-23 forever... now we are taking him 3rd?

I hope he doesn't have a promise from us or something.

DraftExpress has been kinda weird lately. I used to appreciate them a lot more but their mocks recently have been very weird.

Agreed. I get the feeling they're shuffling around the rankings in the top 10 between the lottery and draft day just to generate buzz, knowing that nobody will care about what the mocks said once it is known how the top 10 worked out.

He's kinda undersized. 6'10 is good but his wingspan is only 7' which is like James Young who is an SG. Built exactly like Julius Randle who has struggled to translate his elite post game from college into the league because of lack of length. Probably not gonna block shots and already can't rebound.

Youngs wingspan is huge for his height (6'5" without shoes)

Can't believe DX mocked him #3. It's like scouts watched his workout and were so awed by his hops that they forgot all about the fact that he doesn't pass, rebound or play defense.

I hate that every time a guy can jump out of the gym, they automatically have "upside". What are the odds that Chriss actually hits his theoretical ceiling?

I will get this shirt made if we draft and keep Chriss:
