This choice is getting harder and harder which is good. I think it's a Bender or Murray.

Kris Dunn = not yet convinced by info on Bender. Shaky on J.Brown this high up. I think Dunn is the best talent of the group of guards so I will take Dunn.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Personally I'd take Hield or Bender.
I think Hield is the kind of guy Danny is going to love.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I'm still with Murray with Hield not far behind, but I'm slowly being talked into Bender.  I'm looking forward to him coming to the U.S. and hearing about his workouts which I think is about 2-3 weeks away.

Ditto.

Don't want the pick. Certainly don't want the Euroscrub.

Trade the pick.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

If I were Ainge, I'm taking Buddy Heild at #3 no if's and's or but's about it. I take Buddy at #3 then I shop Marcus Smart with the other 1st round picks for a young Forward on the trading teams roster or to move up into the 5-7 range and draft Jaylen Brown or BPA. But that's if we don't trade the pick. Buddy Heild is a no brainer and is a clear upgrade over Marcus Smart. I really hope we trade Smart before the BUST factor takes affect

If we had Buddy Heild on the roster in the playoffs we would of reached the second round. Buddy is a no miss type player

Boston's best player is a PG.  Boston's second best player is a SG.  Boston's third best player is a SF.  Boston's best prospect is a combo guard.

So you have to go with the raw big man i.e. Bender.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

We go with Bender we r screwed. It amazes me that people want to take backward steps. We can clearly upgrade the team instantly with two moves.

#1 buy drafting Buddy Heild

#2 buy trading Smart

Its not rocket science guys. Bender is a miss, he's not even worth a top 6 pick. Lol

I think the best move would be to trade down a few spots and pick up some additional assets for the trouble. I think Dunn, Murray, and Brown are all about equal.

I'm not knowledgeable enough on Bender, so maybe he is actually worth taking at #3.

The one mistake I really hope Ainge doesn't make is drafting Hield at #3. This guy's skill set screams role player, and I don't want Boston to be the team that regrets making such a painfully obvious poor choice. He's probably the safest pick, but clearly has the lowest upside of any of the projected top 10 picks.

This choice is getting harder and harder which is good.

It could also mean no one is separating themselves, which would be a bad thing.

Taking the player with the highest upside at a position of not is need a step backwards.  It is a step towards a title team.  In fact, Bender is the only player that will be there at 3 that has that sort of potential.  Maybe he flames out, but you have to take that risk, because the reward is worth it.

Hield is a role player.  He won't be able to create his own shot in the NBA so he won't be anywhere near as effective as a shooter.  He is also about close to a finished product, which sure means he might yield an extra win or two for the next year, but he isn't pushing Boston over the top at any point in time ever.

Hield is the absolute worst person for Boston to take if it wants to win a title with the drafted player as a key component.

Bender
Murray
Brown
Poeltl
Dunn

That should be the order.  Brown and Poeltl will be there later, so trading back might make the most sense if you can find a willing trading partner.

Bender is a mistake waiting to happen. Heild makes his on shots. I think u got it wrong. Heild is going to be a top 10 player in this league in two years, top 5 player in three. Bender could take 3 years to develop. Heild gives you instant scoring. I don't take risks and neither should the Celtics. Danny takes Bender at 3 say goodbye to our rebuild n say goodbye to Brad Stevens. Heild is a no miss. Bender is no better then KO I don't think the kid has a ceiling. Wow I think I'm done talking about this. Danny takes Bender this franchise is done...

This is crazy. How is the franchise done? They have 8 picks this draft and two more Brooklyn picks. Plus a Grizzly pick after that. Taking a gamble when your choices are Bender, Heild, Murray, Brown, Dunn and Lab isn't exactly going to kill a franchise. None look great or inspire confidence in their selection. It's like picking from Randle, Exum, Gordon, and Smart all over again. They might all be just role players.
