This is what I mean is Ainge has kind of painted himself into an interesting situation here where people are thinking he's going to do one thing when he really could do something totally else.  I hope we draft bender.   I don't want anymore guards.  I do like jaylen b rown though.  Hield and Murray I am not big on.  Shooters yes.  With the 3rd pick no.

At 3rd I hope we take the bpa.  I don't think you spend that pick on shooters unless they are steph curry.  Neither hield or murray are.

I take a player who can really move this franchise forward.  Hield and Murray aren't doing that.

Giles, Bryant, Bolden and Allen (the four 7 footers currently ranked high for next year) all have great wingspan and bodies, but not one of them can shoot worth crap away from the basket.   All of them look like long term projects --- starting _next_ year.

Jonathan Isaac, a 'small forward' who is shooting up in length, Giannis-style, may end up the most intriguing 7 footer by next year if he can put on any semblance of weight.  He'll be someone to watch at FSU.

Me too, and Danny seems committed to that strategy. I trust Danny to discover who the BPA actually is.

Buddy Hield has serious untapped potential still in the tank. He progressed very quickly once he started rolling over 3 years.
I think Danny looks at Hield and sees a lot of James Harden without the overall offensive talent but a better attitude and desire.

A first round that gives the Boston Celtics Buddy Heild and Skal Labisierre would be a success. Move players like Smart and Crowder for a Jimmy Butler or Okefor would be an idea but there's other options in FA as well. Why go draft Bender if we can shoot for Whiteside in FA ?

Hield to me is not that good.  I could be wrong but he is strictly a shooting guard and can't handle the ball like Curry.  Doesn't have the athleticism of Ray Allen.  I don't think he is in that class of player.   

I was not that high on Simmons or Ingram either.  I think they are potential stars but limited.   3rd is perfect to me.  Bender or Brown is who I wanted and still do.  I would not trade the pick. 

Yeah it might take patience and people are going to disagree with me but I really feel like Bender or Brown is where it's at this draft and have always felt that way if you've read my posts.  I am not that high on Murray either.  I don't see either of those guys winning us anything. 

Ainge himself said in that interview that the media has kind of painted this draft as a two player draft in Simmons and Ingram.  I see this draft the same way.

Different players.  Whiteside is a shot-blocking low-post protecting center who's offensive game is limited to rolling & face-up near the hoop.   Bender is more of a high paint defender who can switch on to the perimeter and who has a stretch-shooting offensive game.  Bender may project ultimately as more PF instead of C.

'Not saying he's the preferable option.  Just pointing out they are different types of players.

I think you don't decide on one based on the other.  Whatever player we draft shouldn't be counted on to help a ton this next season.  If we want Whiteside, we want him no matter who we draft.  And if we are interested in a long-term high-upside project player, we should draft him regardless of what veteran FA we might sign for immediate help.

Ive read in a few places that hes got decent awareness and plays good team defense, but is pretty garbage on ball due to a lack of lateral quickness.
