I'd be fine with Sabonis, but he'd be a depth piece on this team.  Hard to imagine he'd get time ahead of Olynyk or Jerebko.  Mickey probably provides more in areas of need than Sabonis does.

I'm more interested in Jones, Diallo, or one of the Euros (Zubac, Zizic, Hernangomez, Cornelie) with one of the late 1st / early 2nds.

He will get mins.  Bc sully and Zeller won't be back.  And if we don't sign/tradr for any legit frontcourt vet

If anything we need guys that can rebound

This hype train is off the rails.

Completely...people are treating this guy like some kind of difference maker.

Agreed.  Sad thing is, is that Sabonis is a good player and at the right pick could be a great pick up.   While it's hard to project him as some instant super-star, he looks solid and on track to be at least a decent NBA player at a minimum.

The unrelenting hype from just a small set of voices shouldn't take away from that fact.

That's funny - where did I say superstar? How is it hyping someone to say you'd be really happy to draft them when their skill set and position fit the teams weaknesses? Unreal

That's funny - where did I say you said superstar?
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Coaches always ask, what's the one NBA skill this guy can bring right now. That skill is rebounding. If Sully is gone, Sabonis will help.

His dad was a legend  ;D
Im aware. So was Luke Walton's  ;)

We should take Gary Payton II with the Nets Pick.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Sabonis doesn't.   Sabonis is like Arvydas but 3-4 inches shorter and not as wide

interpret it however you...

I hope we deal KO putting the Olympics ahead of the C's, delaying his shoulder stuff.   He should have already got the surgery and been ready for us.   He won't even be starting I wager for Canada.
Sabonis is tough.  KO is not.   One is rugged and prides himself on toughness, the other does not.  They are different players but I do not think it would be as automatic as you, think.

Why do you take a difference of opinion so personal? You act as though you know Sabonis personally. You do the same thing with Mickey and it's really overbearing. This may be a shock to you, but people are going to differ in opinion on players. Some will be proven right, others wrong. Again, no need to take things to the point that you make it completely unbearable for anyone to say a negative word about Sabonis because the thread will be completely drowned out with an endless amount of posts, which include, but are not limited to, condescending responses, the 3 games Sabonis played in the tournament, asinine comparisons to current players and their respective skill-sets, and a barrage of youtube videos, which I'm pretty certain nobody ever clicks on.

You may wish to consider taking a look in the mirror.  Or better yet, simply re-read this last post of yours.

Domantas is as much Arvydas as Gary II is Gary. I just think that listing a guy's paternal lineage as one of his merits as a prospect is kind of ridiculous.

  • Celtic's only raise championship Banners
I'd much rather draft Thon Maker with the Celt's pick and pick someone else with the 16th.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Patrick Ewing Jr
Elfrid Payton (he's solid, but hardly a stud)
Tim Hardaway Jr
Austin Rivers
Phil Pressey

There have been a host of guys who were son's of former players/coaches who haven't amounted to much (and/or anything) in the NBA.

In fact I would say the sons of pro's who have failed probably outnumber the ones who have succeeded something like 4-to-1 (and that's being modest).

Yes but then you have the jrs who have surpassed

Like..

Steph Curry
Kobe Bryant
Jae Crowder

I remember reading somewhere if a super athlete even if they are married to another super athlete and only 1 child is born,  it doesn't necessarily mean the lone child will turn out to be a great athlete as well.  2 children , well chances are better.  3, 4, +  eventually a talented athlete  will be born

Domantas comes from a family with 3 or 4 siblings.  His other 2 brothers play ball too, but are not considered to be skilled enough to make the pro level or anything.  On the other hand Domantas looks like he has adopted something from his dad.   The way he knows how to play, strength,  intensity, smarts,  etc.   Also add that he practices/learns from his father (accelerate development)

To test this theory also compare Steph to Seth Curry,   Aaron Gordon to Drew Gordon etc.

What's the deal with Sabonis, did he get measured yet? That's my real question with him.

Regardless of his height he will get drafted in the 9 to 16 range he's that good.
