Our lack of adequate big men is a huge weakness- size, rebounding, etc. So when there is a big man who addresses these specific weaknesses, that is appealing. I hope this elementary explanation helps you understand. But thanks for your amazing input.

Exactly

Sabonis addresses rebounding (one of the best in college last season), interior scoring. As much as CBS loves his big guys to nail perimeter jump shots, if he had someone competent to go down low once in a while, our offense wouldn't look so predictable at times.

Lee was fed the ball down low last season. He seriously regressed.   Sully just tries to power everything. KO should not even bother unless it's against smaller player. Amir no post game to speak of. Jerebko , nothing.  Zeller has a OK running hook but was demoted down to the bench (game too quick for him)

So yes, it would be nice to have a guy that is decisive and knows what he is doing down there (score or pass)

That would be a nice draft. Though I'd prefer to take at least another NBA ready guy, rather than 2 project picks. Maybe Valentine over maker? Idk
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Sabonis is like a Draymond Green imo.   Draymond green/scola hybrid. Just has "it"

Maybe not a type you can build around at the NBA level, but  . can take the initiative when your team has nothing . Someone you can go go war with

I hope the Celtics are one of the 1st teams to interview and work him out.

Agreed.  Sad thing is, is that Sabonis is a good player and at the right pick could be a great pick up.   While it's hard to project him as some instant super-star, he looks solid and on track to be at least a decent NBA player at a minimum.

The unrelenting hype from just a small set of voices shouldn't take away from that fact.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

That's funny - where did I say superstar? How is it hyping someone to say you'd be really happy to draft them when their skill set and position fit the teams weaknesses? Unreal

I'd be fine with Sabonis, but he'd be a depth piece on this team.  Hard to imagine he'd get time ahead of Olynyk or Jerebko.  Mickey probably provides more in areas of need than Sabonis does.

I'm more interested in Jones, Diallo, or one of the Euros (Zubac, Zizic, Hernangomez, Cornelie) with one of the late 1st / early 2nds.
