One of the ways DA could drop the ball is if he used his assets (especially the Brooklyn ones) in a way similar to what the Nets did giving them up for two once great players past their prime (apologies Truth and KG). I doubt he would make that mistake, while some fans are impatient to 'win now', DA won't be tempted to give it all up for a lesser player. He will likely give up a lot for his biggest targets.
This is definitely the fear. Any deal should be for a star with a career ahead of him. That's hard to find, though. It might be smarter to just try to consolodate the roster we have now but keep the future picks and grow guys at home.
