Anyone else skipping the lottery?

I can't stand watching the draft order hoping no team falls out of order. It's too much stress for me.

How about everyone tell us your lottery draft rituals. Anyone superstitious?

I'm with you. I decided a while ago that I wouldn't watch. I'll find out by a bleacher report notification I guess. Hopefully the headline reads: Celtics win Lottery; Lakers Lose pick

I'd take Simmons over Ingram. Simmons is like at taller more athletic Draymond Green.  Can be a 20point 12rebound 7assist guy in his prime which is crazy. I don't think Ingram is quick and explosive enough to be an elite scorer.
Except for Simmons can't shoot, which is kind of a big deal.

I'm going to be out of town and will miss it.

Even worse, the draft falls on my anniversary. Still haven't figured out how I'm going to break it to my wife. Maybe I can find a date for her or something.

Hard to overstate how big this night could be for the C's.  Could also be hugely disappointing. Pure luck at the right moment in time will either take a bite out of Danny's options, or give him a major asset with which to toil.

One thing I don't like is knowing when mid-late lottery teams have struck on a top 3 pick -- because they don't show up where are supposed to in the projected order.  Then, of course, the camera shows them after each successive slot is revealed (the big smile).  You know it has impact on the C's chances.

I'll probably do something like the following:
1. Try to stay as ignorant as I can about the actual projected draft order.  That way I'm not saying to myself, "OK, the Bucks should be next..."
2. Avoid the pre-lottery discussions and interviews.
3. Sound is off.
4. Try to avoid processing which teams are on/off the board.
5. Try to avoid processing who the camera keeps turning to after each pick is selected (the clue that this team has hit a top 3 pick).
6. Start focusing in earnest at pick #6; hoping with pounding chest not to see the Celtics logo.
7. Repeat Step 6

Wow -- I just read my own lottery viewing steps and want to assure you that yes, I am actually a grown man.  Embarrassing.

What will you do?

Ditto, and not embarrassing in the slightest. I know exactly where you are coming from.

How many games did you refuse to watch this year because you couldn't stand the tension? I may be in double-digits.

I'm with you man. Probably spend lottery day morning picking every 4-Leaf clover in my backyard so i can sit on a couch full of them to watch.

Two true Celtics fans right there.

We're having a party at my house.
Well...me, my wife and my dog.

Well...maybe me and my dog.

Well...Maybe just me...

I'm going to be pumped as hell. Just keep in the back of your mind that this is a free pick and whatever we get is a 96% chance at a top 5 pick.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Read that last line again. One more time.

Mods can we sticky this please as it's officially a week out from the lottery ?

I figured some people may want to see what the chances were of landing a top 3 pick so I have added those percentages to each team. In case people were wondering, our chances of landing in the top 2 are 31.3%. Let's hope for the best!
Good work.  By the numbers, isn't it also true that the single most likely outcome is #4?

Nope, even worse: 5th.

On the bright side, the above link refers to the 1993 NBA Draft, in which the Orlando Magic only had a 1 in 66 chance of getting the top pick (1.52%). Of course, that did not stop Orlando from getting the top pick that year.

Anything is possible, folks!

Like the lakers getting the first pick, the Bulls getting the second and the Knicks ending up in 3rd

Technically, because Philly has the right to swap picks with the Kings, their chance of landing top 3 is even higher than 64.3%.   There's like a 71% chance that at least one of those teams ends up with a top 3 pick.
