i hate players clowns.. thats why i do not like howard..
But...
Boston has no disneyland fakerland and hardenland....
he will play for a team that everyone tries his best... not big egos... defensive team first...he will play in a system.. without kobe and harden dictating the ball...
Without an overpay i would sign him... stevens could do defensive wonders with him..

I think the "he won't be a clown because it's Boston" argument is wishful thinking.
He wants $30 million per season. Even if he "only" gets $20 - $25 million, that's more than I want to pay for a broken down clown.

I agree with this. Dwight has been a loser and a clown at 3 different organizations already, and his teammates quickly grow to dislike or hate him. Throughout that time, as a player who relied heavily on his athleticism, he lost much of it due to injuries and age, and didn't attempt at all to develop other aspects of his game. He's definitely not worth the money he will be asking for at this stage in his career, but someone will give it to him.

I would consider offering three years at $20 million with the last year unguaranteed, but I might make the deal contingent on a promise to try shooting free throws Rick Barry-style.

so everyone prefers sully amir or zeller as our center...
Because at free agency... whiteside will demand the same money for more years and is no better
Horford is declining worse than dwight
Noah is always injured
Gasol is one step before retirement...

Ok if we sell our picks and smart and bradley and thomas and crowder..
We could have a shot at cousins who is at his prime...
Obviously he is less as a clown...
Oh sorry no coach he ever played for is happy with him
Everyone is saying that dwight is clown and always will be..
Noone is saying that cousins is a problem and will stay as a problem

It depends. Clearly if he was going to take a team friendly contract, it would be worth it.

The only way I'd offer him a sizable contract was if Danny saw him as the final piece, like if we signed Durant, drafted Simmons, and kept everyone else.

But there's no world where he should be the offseason priority.

Cousins is much younger than Dwight, much more skilled, has no injury history, and , this is a huge factor going forward, his game does not rely on athleticism at all.

I'm all for Howard for a reasonable contract. A number that balances his existing value with his recent injury history and progress decline. He Han really have a great impact on this team I feel.

Even this past season in Houston, Dwight still provided roughly twice as much scoring and rebounding as Amir.  If you want to make a big improvement this offseason, Ainge has to start somewhere and a Howard/Amir combo would massively improve us at the center position and not only would we not have to worry about keeping Zeller but overpaying for Sully would no longer be a worry.

Obviously, a cheap Howard would be great (given his age, injury concern, and attitude at times).

But I doubt he would take as a massive pay cut as has been mentioned here.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I would only want him on a contract he almost certainly wouldn't accept. He's over 30, on the decline, with 12 years of NBA wear and tear. He's also a guy whose game relied heavily on athleticism, which makes his age even more concerning. I think the 3rd and 4th years on any deal he signs are going to be murder for the team.
